Sharks fin dumpling @ 福記

There is nothing worth mentioning in general regarding their food, however their Sharks fin dumpling are quite good. Thin dumpling skin, and steamed just right that it dosnt stick to the box.

Sometimes if I arrive late in the day, it would be sold out, or only one portion is a available.

Inmitation sharks fin soup @ 日年華美食 The Excellence

On the windows of this shop, there are newspaper and magazine cuttings, yet it was not listed on OpenRice.

Anyway lets see if this place gets more reviews.

The food is ok, its siu mai's are the best.
The fake sharksfin soup is also ok, with lots of black fungus, chicken, glass noodles etc.

The food is also quite cheap, but the canned drinks are from china.

Inmitation sharks fin soup @ 通達食店

My favourite joint for quick noodles, and fried treasures, the noodles here are always good.

This time tried the fake sharks fin soup, the soup colour was dark caramel containing glass noodles, sliced mushrooms and meat.

My friend got this bowl of pork in soup, basically fat pork belly, which stunk like hell!
Don't know what is the specialty for this dish!!

Scrumptious snacks that all taste good @ 益昌小食店

Initially was attracted by the poster showing all their snacks, especially the squid with Prawn paste sauce. Prawn paste sauce is found everywhere in Tai O, and Tai O is the only place that serves squid with it, so I just had to try it.

As well as that ordered other snacks too, silky tofu, agar wtih grass jelly, spare ribs in prawn paste sauce noodles, and inmitation sharks fin soup.

The inside of the restaurant was tiled with shiny white tiles, it was slightly similar to the backstreet restaurants in Cheung Chau.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Squid with Prawn paste sauce:
This snack was nice and simple, squid drizzled with soy sauce, a few drops of oil and topped with prawn paste sauce.
I was expecting the prawn paste sauce to be saltier, however it wasnt that strong, there were bits of grounded pork too.
As well as this place, the prawn paste sauce in the and roti I had at Sun Kwong Cheung Choi Kee wasnt that strong either.
I wonder if the original recipe has been modified to adapt to the taste of modern Hongkongers.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Silky Tofu (warm):
The tofu was warm and smooth, it tasted nice with or without syrup.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Agar with Grass Jelly:
This looked interesting, agar with grass jelly, it was basically agar with cubes of grass jelly.
The taste was slightly different to what I expected, I was expecting the sweetness of agar mixed with the taste of grass jelly, but it tasted like Banana essence.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Inmitation sharks fin soup:
The quality of this was amazing, the chicken in the soup was fresh, although the taste was strong of sesame oil and slightly salty, I really liked it.
They used the vegetarian version of sharksfin instead of beanthread noodles.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
spare ribs in prawn paste sauce noodles
Same as the squid, the prawn paste sauce was slightly bland, but still the noodles were good, and the lettuce in the noodles were clean and fresh.

Trendy Chewing gum chips tea @ T.Pot Bristol

This restaurant is very intriguing, just like Mazter, they are both located in Hang Hau and the posh end of Sai Wan Ho, they both have wacky English names.

潮人飯堂 mean’s “Trendy dining room" in English. However their English name for the restaurant was T.Pot Bristol, nothing near their Chinese meaning.

Although the cuisine is of chiu chow descent, I couldn’t quite correlate it with England, I seemed to interpret the English name as "Tea Pot", and more interestingly there is "Bristol" attached to the name, a place down the south west of England.

There are no hotpots served there, so the name couldn’t possibly mean hot pots, or Bristol Teapots, but Bristol isn’t famous for Chinaware. STRANGE!!!
However the cups were tiny and cute.

Being a so called Trendy place, there were two interesting items, the cheese and condensed milk bun and the chewing gum chips tea.
I didn’t know what the chewing gum chips tea was, so I ordered that, and it turns out to be Jasmine tea so that wasn’t very funky.

The main attraction to the place seems to be the steamed fish at a cheap price on weekdays.
The fish is big and presented in a big glass dish filled with generous fish soup and herbs.

Apart from that, they served all day dim sum.

Ordered the Fried foie gras dimsum, noodles in Chiu chow style, cheese and custard bun, vegetarian sharks fin soup and the steamed fish.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Fried Foie Gras:
This was totally not what I was expecting, there was no liver inside, but fruit salad!

Chiu Chow style noodles:
I have tasted better before, the noodles were not uniformly cut.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Vegetarian sharks fin:
Totally bland!

Steamed fish:
This was the only dish that tasted OK, the soup was nice, no msg, strong in pepper.

Steamed Cheese and custard bun:
