[Little Birdy] Aussie chicks alert!!

My friend told me about this place so I had to go and check it out because I love chicken.

It is slightly different to Roast chicken and potatoes but they had my favourite chips with chicken salt!
They use free range chicken that are hormone free according to their website.

Since this place specializes in chicken, I had to have chicken with chips but they have the Birdy pack which also includes a salad and chips so I got the pack.
For salads, there were so many choices!
The chicken was roasted perfectly and fuss free while the chips were so good with that chicken salt sprinkled on it.

I purposely paired it with the detox salad which is cabbage and carrots.

My friend had the DG's chicken and waffle with additional small Romaine salad.
Small romaine salad:

Finished with the Iced Tea and Lemonade with Cayenne Pepper.

The lemonade was spicier than I imagined.

Plastic straws are not used here which is quite good.
It is good to see another Aussie joint in Hong Kong!

Decorated suckling big by GoodBBQ

My dad was in HK so decided to get him a cute decorated suckling pig from Good BBQ which is something that you probably won't find in the UK decorated like this.

It was delivered on time and the design was a lovely surprise because it was for Father's day and I left the design over to them.

The eyes flash.

The tie had two sides to it.

After chopping it up, it was enough for the eight of us and the sauces were hidden beneath the pig.
The suckling pig was crispy and the meat was tender and well seasoned that it didn't really need the sauces.

Fashionable Chinese roast

Good BBQ opened their first takeaway joint in Central in 2015 but sadly I never got to try the slow roasted pork because it was always sold out.

I don't work in Central so it is hard to find a place nearby to sit down and enjoy it.
Managed to try one of the side dishes that was not sold out some evening which was really good because I love OKRA!!

Anyway, recently found out from FB that they have a joint at Lab Concept with a dining area so went there asap.
Coming from Pacific Place, there are these stylish piggies on the floor that lead you to the joint.

Each piggy is different and stylish that I like almost every one of them.

To my surprise, they have fine French teas and lamb charsiu on the menu.

With traditional Chinese roast shops, you are normally put off visually because you see weird wood logs as chopping boards, grubby staff with greasy hands, meat dripping and other meats touching the glass window.
Here you don't see that but you see a TV of what is going on in the kitchen.
Ordered the lamb charsiu and slow roasted pork which comes in a stylish box that is more fashionable than the previous fashionable blue box they had!!
According to Good BBQ, they will change the design of the box every now and again.

As well as the box, the suckling pig is also made glamorous with a golden chain and sparkling gem eyes!

Even the little details like the sauces are labelled nicely.

I loved the lamb shoulder charsiu because it has the charsiu sweet flavouring yet it has a prominent lamb taste without the gaminess.
As well as pork, lamb gives you another option and people who don't eat pork won't miss out on Charsiu.

The slow cooked roast pork was tender and delicious.

New on the menu are buns, a popular snack in the UK.
I had this evilicious charsiu bun topped with a 63 degree egg.

As well as charsiu, they also have crispy pork belly, duck and other combos.

Finished off with a lovely fine French tea which was the perfect finish.

[Good BBQ] Not just Chinese roast

Li Yuen Street East is becoming a popular street for modern eateries hidden behind the market stalls.
There is GOOD BBQ which is a modern roast shop that has other dishes as well as roast with an EXCELLENT English menu because it states clearly that you can choose lean or fatty roast pork.

The food boxes really appealed to me because they were modern and chic.

Sadly, the slow roasted pork was sold out so I got the sides which were just as good.
Ended up getting two tubs of roasted okra with spices in Szechuan chili oil.
It was delicious okra in a sweet vinegary sauce with crispy roasted coriander seeds in it.

Luckily, it wasn't very spicy.

Beans and carrots at La Rotisserie

Every time I walk past this place, I am always captivated by that delicious smell of roast chicken.

This time I could not resist their roast potatoes.

As usual, the roast potatoes are perfectly roasted with a soft fluffy centre and a tasty potato skin.
The beans were slightly chewy and dry but the baby carrots were sweet with a hint of butter.

hot hot hot by HOT CHICK by Paul's Kitchen

Walked past and noticed a standee so decided to try it because there was roast chicken and fish and chips on the menu.

Just a street away, there is La Rotisserie which is famous for roast chicken!

The shop had red paper covering the shop's name at the time.

Unfortunately, they only do takeaways.

This joint is opened by Paul's Kitchen in Central which I have always wanted to go.
It is called Hot Chick which is not to be confused with Hotchicks at North Point which reminds me of FLAMES and FLAME that both do roast chicken as well.
Sadly FLAME in Wan Chai does not serve roast chicken anymore but FLAMES in Quarry Bay does.

I went for the roast chicken and desserts over several days.

For the roast chicken, there is a good variety of sides but as they have just opened, I could only choose the potato gratin or chips.

Roast spring chicken set:

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Roast spring chicken:

The chicken was juicy and tender with a deliciously seasoned skin while the potato gratin was nice and creamy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Salad:

The salad was fresh, but nothing spectacular about it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Apple crumble:

The apple crumble was a bit disappointing because Paul's Kitchen is meant to be British but the amount of custard seemed like a dollop of cream to them.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sticky toffee pudding:

Again, this British dessert is meant to be served with custard and there was none.
The toffee was sticky and sweet but if it had custard then it would have been perfect.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Banoffee trifle:

The banoffee trifle was a bit different to what I was expecting because trifles have jelly, sponge and custard.
There is a better amount of custard on this because I kept telling them a spoonful of custard was not enough!!
