Take your soul away with a lime soda

Lime Soul: Shop 103, Food Court, 1/F, Park Central Tower, 9 Tong Tak Street, Tseung Kwan O

Walking into this food court, I was immediately attracted by this Thai joint, it was done up the best amongst the rest and stood out.
At first it didn’t look Thai, but when I looked closer I realised it was Thai.

The restaurant name in Chinese is interesting, a direct translation of Lime Soul with the pronunciation similar to “soul” in Chinese.

I ordered a Lime soda and stir-fried vermicelli with salted pork.

The lime soda was the best, it was sugarfree and it tasted like fresh lime juice with carbonated water added to it.
The vermicelli could have been better, it was slightly too greasy and I couldn’t find the salted pork anywhere in the noodles so I am not sure if they gave me the wrong one.

Steamed egg white pudding @ 五代同糖

Steamed egg white
Not sure if this contains cream but its Chinese description is steamed egg white and cream.
The presentation looked exactly like the product shot and it was slightly warm when served.
It just tasted like the usual steamed egg white pudding but there was no creamy taste if I was judging it by the Chinese menu.

Okinawa black sugar jelly noodles with melon @ 五代同糖

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Okinawa black sugar jelly noodles with melon
It was black sugar jelly served in carnation milk with pieces of melon and crystal sago seeds.
The sweetness of the sugar jelly was just right.

Chocolate jelly noodles with ice-cream @ 五代同糖

I do not usually come here for desserts because the dessert I had before was too oily, and the other one was too sweet.
However this time I saw three items that I thought were quite good, one was the chocolate jelly noodles with ice-cream, the second was brown sugar noodles with fruit and the third was the steamed eggwhite.

When you enter this restaurant there are some small inclined steps which easily trip people up at both entrances which happened to me and some other people.

Chocolate jelly noodles with ice-cream
It looked 95% like the product shot but without the chocolate wafer rolls as shown on the product shot.
I am surprised that no one has written about the chocolate noodles on OpenRice, but the combination of the ingredients in the dessert was really good.
It was chocolate noodles, cocopops, chocolate chips and chocolate ice-cream served in carnation milk.
The sweetness was just right for me.

Cinnamon banana fritters @ 五代同糖

Found this dessert shop because it was located round the corner from Chung's dessert.

When you walk into the shop there is a fruity scent similar to fruit syrups used for making Taiwanese fruit teas.
Anyway because the chocolate noodles were good last time, I ordered it again.
I also ordered the banana fritters with cinnamon as well.

Chocolate jelly noodles:
The chocolate jelly noodles had the wafer rolls which were not given at the Hang Hau branch, and the noodles were cut nicely and more manageable.
As there was a speck of green tea ice-cream in the chocolate ice-cream, I was beginning to wish it was mint chocolate ice-cream, but they only had green tea, chocolate or vanilla.
If the milk was mixed with baileys or even mocha the dessert would have been perfect.
But apart from that it was fun watching the milk turn brown by the cocopops. ☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆
Cinnamon banana fritters:
I thought this was quite creative because cinnamon is usually paired with apple.
The dessert tasted quite nice, but the bananas were sligthly sour and starchy. ☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆

☆Kitchen J☆azzed up better than before

Previously this restaurant used to be Watami but now it has turned into Kitchen J which is also part of the Watami catering group.
The interior is much better than before and out of place for Hang Hau.
It reminds me of Applegreen in causeway bay because of the plain wooden furnishings.
As it was part of the Watami group, I did not check the menu before going in. I expected it to be similar or a high-end version of Watami.

Anyway I started browsing the menu, and I was disappointed with the choices, there were many but limited.
It was curry, scrambled eggs or fried bentos.
I didn’t want to order the set because I didn’t think I would like the salad or the soup and if I am not full I would prefer to order dessert and drinks as well because the set does not include a drink.

I liked their drinks and dessert selection but it was quite expensive and the set does not include a drink or give you an option to pay extra or upgrade.
In the end I ordered Hamburger steak with Ponzu sauceand Deep fried Oysters with scrambled eggs.

The food took quite a long time to come.
For those two dishes, one tasted like heaven and the other one was not my cup of tea.
I came here twice and the same dish tasted so different, the first time it was delicious and the second time I did not like it at all.
While I was waiting I saw this lid that looked similar to the ones used in Morroccan dishes!
Morrocan?
Morrocan?

Clear soup:
It was nice that they gave clear soup instead of Miso because Miso leaves me feeling thirsty.
The soup had a hint of pepper and sesame with a few pieces of seaweed at the bottom.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Salad:
The portion was quite big and had some tuna and egg yolk mixture which went well with the salad and the deep fried shredded tofu skin gave it more crunch.

Hamburger steak with Ponzu sauce:
The beef was heaven on my first visit, It was strong with flavour and the sauce on top was really refreshing.
I felt that there could have been more rice as the beef patty was huge. There were no elastic bits in it. However on my second visit, the beef was horrible, there was so many elastic bits in the patty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Deep fried Oysters with scrambled eggs:
The scrambled egg was not what I was expecting, it was just a fried beaten egg omlette floating on the sweet sauce.
The sauce was disgusting, it was so sweet it ruined the oysters and the oysters soaked up the sweet sauce and went soggy.

Warabi mochi with black honey and soft ice-cream:
The ice-cream looked yellow on the product shot so I thought it might have a strong custard flavour to it, but the sweetness and flavour was bland, the warabi mochi was nice and soft.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
To try list: On my next visit, I want to try the matcha mixed with soda because it seems good pairing the bitterness of the matcha with sweet soda.
