譚仔雲南米線 and TamJai SamGor Mixian are really famous restaurants in Hong Kong for Yunnan noodles.
As I don't eat Yunnan rice noodles, I used to get the two mixed up until now when I tried to add it on OpenRice.
Anyway, I never planned to try 譚仔雲南米線 or TamJai SamGor Mixian because there is always a queue, but since this place was newly opened there was no queue.
The snacks menu was simple:
However the noodles section was slightly more complicated.
Ended up ordering chicken wings and plain noodles.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
chicken wings:
The chicken wings were really nice because they had lots of cumin sprinkled on it.
However it could have been cooked more thoroughly because it was pink inside.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Plain noodles:
As usual the noodles tasted like chewy elastic plastic but they were tasty because the broth was way too salty.

Too salty at 譚仔雲南米線
Déjà vu of the salty noodles at Tsim chai Kee
Some friends from UK wanted to try this place because it was recommended on the Michelin guide so I was forced to dine here again.
On my previous visit, I vowed not to come again because I found a hairy cockcoach leg.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Noodles with wontons:
On this visit, I found a small vegetable fly stuck to the noodles but had to pretend it wasn't there because my friends were expecting so much from this place.
Strangely the kitchen LOOKS cleans but twice I found something in the noodles.
Anyway, the broth and wontons were extremely salty which were the comments from my friends as well and the same comment I made last time.

Egg tart con artist
King Bakery (Lok Fu)
I only tried these egg tarts because someone wanted to try them.
To be honest, it is so hard to find delicious egg tarts that I like.
At King Bakery they have lots of different egg tarts ranging from durian egg tarts to cheese egg tarts.
Ordered THREE egg tarts loud and clear, but she insisted putting four in the box and tried charging for FOUR!!
Honestly the cheek in people who I have met that try to get you to buy things when you don't agree to buy.
Past experiences:
I was looking at some fruit which I wasn't intending to buy and they bagged it and asked me to pay!!! WTF!!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Egg tarts:
Again, these egg tarts were just like the ones at V8, the flakey tart pastry was soft and floppy that they collapse when you eat them and the filling was too watery.

This place needs a miracle
I wasn't intending to dine here but the noodles in tomato broth looked good so came here.
This place has been recommended on the Michelin guide but not many foodies recommend this place.
According to the note, it says tissues and cutlery can be found in the drawers.
When you look in the drawers, there are no tissues.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Noodles with tomato, liver and wontons:
Looked like shxt and tasted like shxt and not in a millions years could it be compared to SingHeungYuen.
The broth was too sweet, and the liver and wontons were not fresh.
The wontons had this awful taste and the livers were raw.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Signature beef:
A very stingy portion!!
You only get three pieces of beef and the rest beneath are big chunks of radishes to make it look like there is a lot of beef.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
As well as the food being disgusting, I got diarrhea too which will keep my weight down!!
It really baffles me how this place got recommended and the staff there are so noisy.
請神仙打救!!! 要新鮮 not 新仙.

Get your cakes online from Patisserie Uriwari
This online cake shop has been selling cakes since 2012.
That's a good two years because online shops get less publicity and relies on the internet and word of mouth.
To be honest, I only knew about this shop late last year when Lemon Tea told me about it.
Finally tried it..
As they are an online shop, I would have expected the cakes to be more expensive but they cost roughly the same as cakes in other shops.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
syun $36:
This cake has caramel mousse, apple and Valrhona hazelnut sauce.
It was not too sweet and I loved the bitter mousse with the crisp cubes of apples.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
koi $34:
This was raspberry mousse, chocolate cream with chocolate almond cake as a base.
There was a good balance in taste because I could taste the strong chocolate as well as the delicious strong raspberries.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
kyo $36:
At the bottom, there was a green tea brownie, topped with delicious green tea mousse, red beans and green tea sauce.
Green tea lovers are going to love this because I loved the green tea mousse which was light and refreshing with a rich green tea brownie at the base.

Localized Singaporean food at Cha Sat
Cha Sut specializes in Singaporean and Malaysian food which is located in Kowloon Bay.
The food has been adapted to Hong Kong tastesbuds because its location is in an industrial area and people probably don't appreciate authentic food in a hurry.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
bun Cha nam:
This was nice, I loved the silk thin strands of rice vermicelli which tasted great with the tangy sauce and juicy pork chops.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Beef curry:
It was meant to be beef rendang, but it turned out to be a different curry which was watery and bland.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Laksa:
This is great for people who havent tried laksa because it has a very light taste and it is not spicy at all.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Bak kut teh with rice and fried dough:
This was my favourite because it had strong dong guai herbs in it with wolfberries.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Boneless hainan chicken:
The chicken was ok, but the rice was the same as the rice for the beef curry.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Dates and wolfberry drink:
I did not drink this but it good to see that there were lots of finely chopped dates in it.

Tomato and egg dumplings at Wang Fu
After trying their new branch at Sai Ying Pun, I decided to check out the Central branch.
Tried the egg and tomato dumplings and the dan dan noodles.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tomato and egg dumplings:
I must have been lucky because I got 11 and the menu says 10 dumplings.
Anyway, the tomato and egg dumplings were quite nice because the tomatoes in the dumpling were not over cooked and they still had a fresh crisp texture with its natrual tomato taste.
But there could have been more egg in the dumplings.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Dan dan noodles:
The noodles were better than anticipated because they were not that spicy and the sauce was thick and aromatic with a strong sesame taste and the sauce had a lot of minced pork in it.

Beef K-Roll
After my first visit to Wan Chai's K-Roll, I was craving for more.
This was my first visit to the Sheung Wan branch, the first branch in Hong Kong.
I was expecting the quality at this branch to be better because it was the original shop.
Tried the Beef K-Roll
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Beef K-Roll:
I was disappointed because each slice was not uniformly sliced and when I picked it up, the seaweed was not sliced properly which unwound the other ones making the beef fall out.
The beef didn't taste nice either because it was sweet.
If I had tried this branch first, it would have killed my expectations for K-Roll because the Wan Chai branch tastes so much better and the quality was better too.

Crappy green monday
Made a reservation and they said the dining time was from 6:30 to 8.45 because the restaurant was fully booked.
When I arrived, it was empty and it remained empty.
Anyway, when I got there, they allocated me the TATAMI.
Why the hell would I want to sit in a bloody TATAMI, do I bloody look Japanese?
Ordered the hotpot but they forgot the wontons and some other dumplings which really annoyed me because their hotpots are more expensive than normal non vegetarian hotpots.
The service was shit and appalling as well and a shame to the vegetarian society because people like David Yeung and the Green Monday organisations are working very hard to promote Green and vegetarian awareness.
God knows how long those chestnuts have been kept in their fridge because it was dry and oxidised (brown) should be binned, you could tell they've gone bad because they've just sliced the rotting surfaces away.
The Bak Kut Teh broth was interesting because they used a soup bag which was obviously bought from somewhere.
What pissed me off even more was the bored waitress who kept coming over to my table and watch me eat did not even tell me there were sauces for the hotpot.
I only found out about the sauces when I got home and read the previous reviews.
The bored waitress was useless as well because she saw my hotpot heat up with the broth spilling and she did not even bother to come and turn down the gas.
If the restaurant was busy I could understand the lack of service (if any at all) but there were only 2-3 tables which shows how busy they are.
Anyway, the taro dumpling was quite good, it was filled with sticky thick taro paste.
