Texas Chicken & Ribs (Wan Chai)
I have attempted to dine here quite a few times but there is no air conditioningwhich makes it quite uncomfortable and sticky.
Went on a day that was less hot, but it was still quite hot once you started eating because the food itself was quite hot.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grilled cajun style chicken breast with coleslaw in bun:
Initially I did not want to order it because it was chicken breast but after seeing the reviews, the chicken was quite juicy so I got it.
I definitely made the right choice ordering this because it was really good, the chicken meat was covered in thick tangy sauce, but there was not much cajun taste unfortunately.
It tasted more like Hickory sauce.
The coleslaw beneath it was deliciously appetizing.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Lemon and herbs Chicken (quarter):
As well as Lemon and herbs, there were other flavours such as BBQ, Hickory, Mango which were probably better options because they probably smother that sauce on top of the roasted chicken.
There was not much flavouring on this one except for the occasional hint of herbs and the lemon could not be tasted at all.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
I would'nt mind coming here again for the cajun chicken, but for the chicken I would only get it if it just came out from the oven because it gets dry fast.
I wanted to try the ribs too but they can be on the pricey side!
The place reminded me of FLAME but more American style!

Chinese food at Royal Legend
Royal Legend (Tin Hau)
Royal Legend is located a few steps from the MTR station. I love its location, great for rainy days and people who are not good with directions!
You can’t miss this place because it is right opposite the MTR exit which you can see on your way out.
As well as being located in a convenient location, I felt that it is a great place for corporate events and Chinese banquets/weddings because it is easy to get there.
The only disadvantage is that it does not have escalators/elevators for the elderly or disabled who would have a right job getting up there!
Heres what we tried because some items are best left untranslated because there is no point making up names for some items that do not exist.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chinese herbal soup :
Basically it contains White Lingzhi mushrooms, sea coconut, pork.
The soup was clear and oil free.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Stir fried cordyceps flower with dalian abalone :
This was a light dish to begin with, it had plenty of beanshoots which whet your appetite.
The Dalian abalone was sliced into thin strips and stirfried with cordycep flowers and beanshoots.
It had a nice crunch from the beanshoots and the abalone was springy and delicate.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Charcoal grilled eel with honey :
These were my favourite because eels were meaty and there were not much bones.
It was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, the grilling process made the texture not so fatty because the eel texture is normally fatty.
The honey and lemon marinade on it was really appetizing.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Steamed egg white wtih scallop and prawn roe:
This dish is really good for the elderly because there is a lot of protein as it is mainly egg white with delicious scallops and crab roe on top.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Jade vegetables with gingko:
Jade basically means jade coloured vegetables ie celery.
I would have liked more gingko nuts in the dish, but the fresh starchy lilium bulbs and black fungas made up for it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grilled salted chicken :
I like the way these chicken was served because you could see it was a whole complete chicken.
The skin was fragrantly crispy with lots of aromatic sesame with tender juicy chicken beneath the skin.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Stir fried noodles with squid tentacles:
My favourite stir fried noodles with squid tentacles.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Red date pudding topped with birds nest:
A nicely layered pudding that was not too sweet and made with real dates which you could find in the layers.
The birds nest on top was great but I would not mind if it was not sweetened because the pudding is sweet.

Silky Tofu upgraded to Tai Chi pudding
Lab Made Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream Laboratory (Tsim Sha Tsui)
Previously missed the grand opening at TST where they were giving out Silky tofu flavoured icecream.
Luckily they had the Tai Chi pudding which was the Silky tofu pudding base with black sesame sauce.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tai Chi pudding:
The boss happened to be at the Tai Hang branch that day, and the icecream sizes were at full portion because usually they tend to be slightly under portioned.
On this visit, you could see a perfect spherical scoop of icecream!!
The temperature of the icecream was colder than usual too!!
Anyway, the taste of the icecream was delicious, it tasted exactly like tofu pudding in milky icecream form with a thin liquid of yellow sugar on top and black sesame sauce.
Overall, the sweetness was just right and not too sweet.

Dizzy for choices @ 祥發茶餐小廚
祥發茶餐小廚 (North Point)
This place is famous for chicken legs in Swiss sauce and they used to be located in Causeway Bay.
To be honest I have not heard of them before when they were in Causeway Bay.
I found out about this place because of Mjqueen7e.
When I got there, I was surprised there were more items to choose from other than the chicken leg.
There is a Swiss chicken leg set which comes with a snack, Chinese noodles or pasta.
There were too many options which you can see from the menu.
In each section, there were millions of items to choose from.
In the end I came here quite a few times to try everything.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chicken leg swiss style:
A bit too sweet for my liking but it is not as sweet as other restaurants.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pancakes:
I was surprised to see American Pancakes on the menu so ordered it.
It was soft and fluffy filled with peanut butter and condensed milk.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Egg, mini burger, potato cake:
I loved the potato cake, it was just simply mashed potatoes and then panfried.
The mini burger was also delicious because it was complemented with delicious gravy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
There were other interesting items on the menu:
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Vegetarian dishes :
I really liked their vegetarian choices because there were at least 10 choices to choose from.
Curry monks style vegetables:
The curry was too sweet for my liking, otherwise it would have been divine, and I would have liked it if they included the normal ingredients such as black fungas and snow fungas that are usually served in Monks style vegetable because the fungas in curry sauce would taste great.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Black bean, bittermelon, tofu, Indian lettuce and enoki mushrooms:
The above dish was also good, but the black bean was not strong enough.

A taste of Vietnam at Mei Foo
Little Vietnam (Mei Foo)
Went to Mei Foo for some Vietnamese food.
It is located in the residential area of Mei Foo, hence it is packed with local residents.
The menu was very extensive, ranging from simple noodles and rice to lovely dishes.
Heres what we had:
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Caramel and ginger chicken wings:
I loved these chicken wings because the taste of ginger and caramel were a good pairing, the fieryness of the ginger was balanced by the sweetness.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Baked scallop with butter with garlic:
These scallops had a really rich buttery taste with a hint of sweetness.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Vietnamese hot and sour prawn soup:
It was not very hot, but quite a sweet tasting soup with strong hints of lemongrass and coriander.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Water prawn in fish sauce:
These prawns were huge and were complemented by the tangy sauce which was not too spicy.
The sauce was so nice I had it with the rice.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Vietnamese steamed parcels:
These were my favourite and they taste great without the sauce, because they were topped with delicious crispy garlic and spring onion.
Inside these parcels were vegetables, dried shrimp and black fungas.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Beef cubes with red rice:
The portion was big and the beef cubes were juicy and tender accompanied with chunky peppers and onions.
The rice was tangy but I felt that the tomato flavour could be stronger.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Vietnamese shrimp and pomelo salad:
The pomelo salad was really refreshing with lots of green papaya, zucchini and carrots.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Drinks:
We had Cendol ice, Tri coloured ice and Salty lemon with soda.
I had the Salty lemon with soda because I wanted something light with the meal and soda is a good drink with a salty twist from the salty lemon.

Marinated porks trotters @ Lo Pak
Lo Pak Restaurant (Wan Chai)
Went to Lo Pak's randomly because I could not think of anything to eat and bumped into Jamel.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pork trotters and tofu:
As I have tried almost everything, I decided to try the porks trotters because I have not tried them before.
They were boneless and sliced neatly but a little too dry for my liking.
The tofu fared better but it was slightly oily.
Both items were not too salty which was good and the vinegar provided neutralised the oilyness and made it more appetizing.
