Lovely food from Puglia

Puglia is a picturesque town in Italy located on the southernmost portion, which forms a high heel on the "boot" of Italy.
The Puglians are said to be Stubborn because Puglia forms the heel of the boot.

Gianni's Trattoria Italiana is conveniently located right next to the mid-levels escalators.

Here was what we tried:

Bruschette di pane casereccio pugliese con cherry tomato e ruccola

The cherry tomatoes were red and vibrant, they were sweet and an appetizing start to dinner.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Bocconcini di bufala con prosciutto e pomodori secchi

Another one of my favourites with soft buffalo cheese and tasty proscuitto.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Strozzapreti del castellano con prosciutto cotto, salsiccia di norcia e funghi porcini, Cotto ham, sausage porcini

I have always wanted to try Strozzapreti which is rolled pasta.
The sauce was rich with a strong porcini taste and pieces of proscuitto which balanced out the creaminess.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Linguine marinara con vongole veraci e vino o al pomodoro
Garlic, olive oil and white wine

The linguine was al-dente cooked in a simple but delicious sauce with a strong white wine taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sella di maialino al forno
Roast baby pig Italian style

This is a delight for the Italians because baby pigs are forbidden for consumption in Italy.
The roast pig was lovely and tender but the skin could be crispier.
The gravy was the best because it was strong and rich that went nicely with the potatoes.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pastiera di Ricotta

For desserts I had the Pastiera di Ricotta from their cake selection.
It is a type of Italian cake made with ricotta cheese.
I couldn't quite taste the cheese but it was dense and sweet.

Far fetched vegetarian food

Even though I have always wanted to try this place, I was discouraged by its location and I can understand why there are only five reviews currently because it is bloody far and inconvenient.

However if you want peace and quiet, this is the place to go.

The ordering procedure is a nuisance, you have to order and pay at the reception counter and queue with the people who are paying for their yoga classes or joining the membership scheme so it can take a while before you can finally order.

Ordered the curry tofu pizza and they don't friggin accept $500 notes so luckily I had a few $20 notes.
When I got my receipt I passed it to the food counter.

As i was just about to get seated, the staff tells me they don't have that item. Bloody great..!!!

Changed the order to stirfried glass vermicelli which involved going to the bloody reception, getting your receipt corrected and passing the ticket back to the damn food counter again.

After that, I finally got seated on the colourful sofas.

Initially I was just about to sit on the blue sofa but it looked like someone had wet themselves a few minutes ago because there was tissue beside it.

The food arrived after quite a wait.

It was basically glass noodles stir fried with white cabbage, julienne bell peppers, julienne carrots, black fungus and vegetables.
The black pepper gave it a nice kick and it was not too oily.

It then got too peppery so I couldn't finish it all and the soup was even worse because it was also peppery.

Unless I am in the area again, I won't come back!

Philipino Avocado ice pops

Walked past and saw these interesting new ice candies which I have never seen before.

They were frozen in slim bags which were food grade I hope!

Anyway, got the avocado flavour which was quite nice but you need scissors to cut the top off or otherwise I don't know how you're meant to eat it.

I was really surprised it was not too sweet because most Philipino foods are too sweet and the icecandy was such a cooler because it turned into silky slush.
The taste was milky with a hint of avocado.
There were other flavours too but frozen avocado is rare!

** according to openricer Loklaw, the owner said it is made with mashed avocado, condensed milk and sugar **

皇朝點心專門店 need improvement

Tried this new dim sum shop on Kwong Wah Street.

As usual, you are given compulsory tea that is charged.
The Jasmine tea tasted nice which was ok.

The tables are laid out like such with orders placed behind the seat.

The rice with spare ribs and chicken claws were too salty and oily, and it was annoying that I only got one claw and the rest were fatty pork pieces.

I also had the cow's stomach which was too sweet!

School Food opens at Festival Walk

I was invited to this K-Food party at Festival Walk's School food which was so much fun.

I got to try the beetroot and crab mari which is exclusive to the Kowloon Tong branch.

It was so delicious filled with lots of crab and the sushi rice had a lovely beetroot flavour.
The anchovy mari was too spicy though!

While I was I got my hair done by iPRIVATEi salon which looked great and the curls lasted for days!

I also had fun taking great photos at their photo booth!

Chocolate dipped dried fruits from Lucullus

Received a $50 cash coupon from openrice which either lets you redeem a slice of cake or use it as $50 cash on chocolates.

The cakes were not that attractive so I got chocolates instead.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Home made dried fruit chocolate:

Got the new dried fruits dipped in chocolate which had mango, apricot and orange peel.
The dried fruits were nice and chewy complimented by the chocolate.
Apricots were definitely my favourite and I was glad there were two pieces of apricot in the bag.

Relaxing corner for food

Previously this place used to be heirloom eatery but now it has reopened as this cafe.

The management and menu are better than before.

Tried the coconut cake which was rich with buttercream on top coated with dessicated coconut.
It was really nice but the cake could have been softer.
