KFC's new Japanese rice coated chicken

Tried the new fried chicken coated in Japanese rice at the branch in Wanchai.

They also had chicken strips which I did not try:

Japanese rice coated chicken:

The taste of the coating was really good because there was a lot going on from the pepperiness of the black peppercorns and the crunch from the pieces of rice and rusk shells.
If the quality of the fried chicken was better then it would have been perfect because the chicken was too dry and I would have also liked more of that coating sprinkled on.

Fried chicken from HOF & SOJU

Chicken HOF & SOJU (Tsim Sha Tsui)

Unfortunately there are not many Korean restaurants on the Hong Kong side so people have to cross the harbour to Kimberly Road which is like a Korean Street.

I wonder if the Koreans like that street because Kimberly sounds similar to the Korean name Kim!

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cabbage salad:

The cabbage was nice but found some black stuff.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fried chicken with spring onions:

The chicken was dry compared to this other Korean place I tried and it was spicy when the Korean staff said it was not spicy.
It was mainly chicken breast and chicken wings which was annoying because at this other Korean restaurant it was an equal mix of breast, thigh and wings.

Radish:

Compared to the previous reviews, the amount of radish was stingy.

Southern style fried chicken

Fried chicken has suddenly become popular because of some Korean series.

Anyway, I am not a fan of Korean food so I don't have this urge to visit all those Korean restaurants in TST.
Instead I went to restoration for all you can eat fried chicken which is available on Mondays only!!!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Gravy:

Creamy white gravy which is different to the British.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Soup:

A hearty soup which had lots of macaroni and vegetables.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fried chicken and biscuits:

The fried chicken was very flavoursome because the coating had a lot of spices including thyme.

Nice curry sauce and fried chicken leg @ Loi's Cafe

Loi's Café (North Point)
Although there are not many reviews on this place, franktschan has been here twice so the food must be good.
On one of his reviews, I was attracted by the curry sauce and on the other review the deep fried chicken leg looked good.

Basically there are lots of options you can choose such as fish or chicken and then pair it with different sauces eg curry, onion gravy, black pepper gravy, sweetcorn sauce or soy sauce.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fried chicken leg, luncheon meat, curry sauce and rice:
They had chicken and chips but I did not fancy the Chinese style chips which are always too crunchy and overdone so I ordered fried chicken with rice which comes with curry sauce which I wanted to try too.
As expected the curry sauce was really nice, its colour and taste was strong.
The chicken leg was slightly different to the one at Kowloon bay’s “Yat yuet sing”, it was fried to the extent that 99% of the chicken skin was crispy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fish burger:

I just felt like trying this even though I do not like the local buns, surprisingly the quality of the fish was really good and the frying oil was fresh.
The sauce they put in the burger was reasonably nice and you could still taste the fish.
I will order the fish with the curry sauce next time.

Fried chicken leg set for $25

Yat Yuet Sing Fast Food Shop (Kowloon Bay)

The fried chicken legs here are great so decided to get it again.

This time I got the set for $25 which has a drink, ham sandwich and fried chicken leg.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chicken leg:The chicken was rather dry on this visit and it did not come off the bone easily.
It was difficult to eat because it was extremely hot and would not cool down in the hot weather.
It was nice of them to supply a disposable plastic glove so you didn't get your hands oily.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Ham sandwich:It was buttered bread with a slice of ham in the middle.

I took the ham out and put chicken, crispy chicken skin in it instead and the chicken sandwich tasted much nicer.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Drink:There was a choice of fizzy drinks, HK style tea or coffee which I do not drink but chose coke for the sake of choosing it and had a few sips.
It was fizzy unlike other places that serve flat drinks.

Vietnamese Butterlicious fried chicken at KFC

I went to KFC to try their new Vietnamese Butter chicken which is meant to be Vietnamese style.

They had the set for $38.6 which includes a Japanese curry, two pieces of chicken, Portuguese tart and drink.

At the time of ordering, they did not have any Vietnamese Butter chicken or Portuguese tarts so the chicken had to be freshly fried and the Portugese tarts were from a fresh batch.

I was actually quite glad they ran out of Vietnamese butter chicken because the fresh batch should taste nicer.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Vietnamese Butter chicken:
When it came, the smell of butter was strong.
It reminded me of the the cheese one they had earlier because there was some yellow coloured powder on the coating.

The chicken was fried just right and extremely hot because it was just taken from the fryer.
The chicken inside was juicy and soft.

The overall taste was really nice because you could taste the butter and garlic on the coating but the intensity of the garlic was not as strong as the type that you get in garlic bread.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Japanese curry and rice:

It was the standard Japanese curry sauce with diced vegetables served on rice.
The reason I liked it was because they did not use the pearl rice.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Portuguese tart:

The tart filling was very soft as expected because it had been freshly baked.
There was nothing wrong with the Portuguese tarts but they are just not my cup of tea.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Drink:
A drink was included and it was surprisingly fizzy because the ones I get from KFC are usually flat!
