School Food opens at Festival Walk

I was invited to this K-Food party at Festival Walk's School food which was so much fun.

I got to try the beetroot and crab mari which is exclusive to the Kowloon Tong branch.

It was so delicious filled with lots of crab and the sushi rice had a lovely beetroot flavour.
The anchovy mari was too spicy though!

While I was I got my hair done by iPRIVATEi salon which looked great and the curls lasted for days!

I also had fun taking great photos at their photo booth!

Tofu Korrito

I love their Korrito rolls so came back for more.
On my previous visit, ordered the beef K Roll which I did not like because it was too sweet.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tofu Korrito:

The Tofu roll was just colourful and neatly sliced.
You could see the leafy green lettuce and fresh purple cabbage with crunchy pieces of fried bits and tofu in the middle.
Each mouthful was packed with freshness of the vegetables and the sweetness of the honey sauce complemented by the tofu in the middle.
The only problem was that it was slightly messy to eat because it kept falling apart.

A Korean joint at Food Point

HonDim (Tseung Kwan O)
Not really a fan of Korean food so just tried their Kelp soup.

Tried it because it was new and at that time it was not listed so asked for the shop number with the intention of updating OpenRice's database with it, but the biatches were a bit concerned or thought it was weird. So I have not bothered to add this and waited for someone else to update it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Kelp soup:

I was surprised their was so much kelp in this soup, almost 70% was kelp.
There was a slight MSG taste in it and there were lots of clams in it too.

Korean Kelly comes to Wan Chai

There are now four Korean joints in Wan Chai, and this one appealed to me the second most because of the rice rolls.

There were three sets or you can just get the rolls on their own.

I got the tuna to takeaway.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
KIMBAP Vegetarian:

While I was waiting, she gave me a Vegetarian one to try which was refreshing and moist because it was packed with vegetables in it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
KIMBAP Tuna:

The tuna roll was plain and simple.
It had tuna, carrots, cucumber and sesame sprinkled on top.
The taste was ok but it was a bit simple compared to K-Roll.

Bloomin delicious mari

While I was waiting for a table at School Food, I discovered that they were finally doing takeaways and it happened to be the maris I was going to dine there for.

Ordered the takeaway and the food was ready before my table was called so I gave my ticket to some lucky people which probably pissed some people off who were before them .

I liked the way they donate $1 for every transaction and not like some other restaurants where they charge you an extra $1 for charity without telling you beforehand.

The food came in a really nicely designed paper bag but I had to ask for chopsticks because there were no chopsticks in the bag.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Squid ink and fried shrimp mari:

The squid mari was as delicious as my first visit with sweet pickles in the middle.
After adding vinegar they tasted even better.
The shrimp mari was good too but the frying oil was not that fresh which let it down slightly.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Anyway I am glad they do takeaways and I will be back for more!!

Fried chicken from HOF & SOJU

Chicken HOF & SOJU (Tsim Sha Tsui)

Unfortunately there are not many Korean restaurants on the Hong Kong side so people have to cross the harbour to Kimberly Road which is like a Korean Street.

I wonder if the Koreans like that street because Kimberly sounds similar to the Korean name Kim!

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cabbage salad:

The cabbage was nice but found some black stuff.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fried chicken with spring onions:

The chicken was dry compared to this other Korean place I tried and it was spicy when the Korean staff said it was not spicy.
It was mainly chicken breast and chicken wings which was annoying because at this other Korean restaurant it was an equal mix of breast, thigh and wings.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Radish:

Compared to the previous reviews, the amount of radish was stingy.

Rockin-K-Roll

This was my first visit to K-Roll because whenever I am in Sheung Wan I end up eating elsewhere.

The staff were nice at this branch and there is a nice sitting area.

Here was what I tried.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Crab salad K-roll:

The rolls were uniformly sliced with a clean cut.

Each piece was so moreish that I finished it quickly.
There was a fresh medley of crunchy vegetables, avocado and crab in the middle.
The crab rolls were simple and delicious that it did not need other sauces.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Prawn korrito:

The idea of this is similar to a burrito but they have used seaweed as a wrap instead.
I loved the freshness of the salad in the middle because you could see that it was colourful and not oxidised.
There was a lovely crunch from the cabbages, crispy pieces as well as the fried prawns.
A very satisfying roll but it needed some chili sauce or something to add more kick to it.
However it was hard to eat because the fillings kept falling out.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
I liked their rolls so much that I finally tried their Sheung Wan branch, but the food and environment is much better here.

Beef K-Roll

After my first visit to Wan Chai's K-Roll, I was craving for more.

This was my first visit to the Sheung Wan branch, the first branch in Hong Kong.
I was expecting the quality at this branch to be better because it was the original shop.

Tried the Beef K-Roll

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Beef K-Roll:

I was disappointed because each slice was not uniformly sliced and when I picked it up, the seaweed was not sliced properly which unwound the other ones making the beef fall out.
The beef didn't taste nice either because it was sweet.
If I had tried this branch first, it would have killed my expectations for K-Roll because the Wan Chai branch tastes so much better and the quality was better too.
