Cruffin by Marks and Spencer

The cruffin which is a pastry hybrid of a croissant and a muffin was only previously available at posh bakeries in London and some other countries.
It is meant to be crisp and flaky like a croissant and soft doughy like a muffin on the inside. You can get it at Marks and Sparks as well as this Japanese inspired Chinese bakery A1 group but their version is weird as it is covered in icing.

At Marks and Sparks, there are three different flavours – chocolate and hazelnut, Seville orange and strawberry and Marc de champagne, at £1.50 in the UK and $25 in Hong Kong.

I was a bit disappointed because it was not doughy and soft in the middle and it was just a croissant all the way through but shaped like a muffin.

Never the less, both the Strawberry and orange flavours were good because jam and croissants always go together.
The chocolate was a bit rich and tasted like a pain du chocolat filled with nutella paste.

Marks & Spencers Strawberry & Dorset clotted cream scones

Got this because I love clotted cream and it seemed delicious the fact that it had Dorset clotted cream in it.

I couldn’t quite taste the cream because it was mixed into the scone but the pieces of strawberry were quite fragrant and it was not too sweet.

To conclude, it would definitely taste good with some whipped cream!

Light lunch at M & S Cafe

I have always wanted to try the Jacket potatoes here but they are always sold out because they are the cheapest items on the menu as well as the paninis and baguettes.
They still had them when I got there so I had the jacket and the cheese and ham ploughman panini.

++++++++++++++++
cheese and ham ploughman panini:

This was delicious because of the cheese so next time I am going to get the cheese and tomato with pesto sauce.
++++++++++++++++
Jacket potatoes with cheese and butter:

It was small potato served with mixed salad leaves.
The potato was lovely with melted cheddar cheese on top but it was weird there was some mashed potato in the middle which made it tastier.
The potato itself was actually a bit too hard for my liking the potato skin was not brown and crispy.

Marks and Spencers cocktail sasuages

Had a craving for pork sausages so got these cocktail pork sausages from MS.
After reheating them, they were tasty with a hint of herbs.
However they were too salty.

Easter hot cross bun series ( Marks and spencers )

Easter cannot be complete without Easter eggs and hot cross buns.
At Marks and Spencers, there were so many fun Hot cross bun flavours as well as the traditional ones made with sultanas and orange peel.
I got the berries and cherries, chocolate, fudge and caramel and the Bramley Kent apple which all did not contain orange peel.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
berries and cherries:

The berries one tasted like Christmas pudding tea.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
chocolate, fudge and toffee:

The chocolate and toffee was the best and surprisingly it was not the sweetest with a strong taste of creamy fudge and toffee.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Kentish Bramley apple hot cross buns:

The Kentish apple was nice with bits of apple in it but I found it too sweet out of the three.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
As you can imagine, they were sticky buns hence I haven't taken any photographs.
I love these new flavours because they don't contain orange peel!

Salty combo mix (Marks and Spencers)

I got the Full on flavour sour cream and jalapeno combo mix for $32 but unfortunately they were too salty with a strong sour cream taste and the Jalapeno taste was not there.

Next time I am going to get the chedder cheese or salt and black pepper flavour.

A quick treat at Marks & Spencer Food Store

I was still hungry after dinner so went here for some tea and a raspberry jam doughnut.

The raspberry doughnut was soft and chewy coated in delicious sugar and filled with fruity raspberry jam which was finished off with a lovely Earl grey tea.

For regular customers, there is a loyalty card to get stamps but I wasn't given one until now even though I have been there quite a few times!

Marks & Spencer's Earl Grey cuppa

Starbucks and Pacific Coffee were full so came here for tea.

There was a good choice and it was only $20 per cup.

Since I have already bought their Jasmine teabags I decided to get the Earl Grey.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Earl Grey tea:
It was really good that they put the cup in an extra cup so that you won't burn your fingers.

The teabag contains good quality leaves which you can see.

The tea had an earthy earl grey taste and it was not as flowery as I would have liked.
The bergamot was not strong enough so next time I will stick with the Jasmine.

Chicken Tikka masala at M&S Café (Tai Koo)

Went to Marks and Spencers for some curry.
After ordering the food I was given a number and they brought over the food.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chicken Tikka masala with rice and naan:

As expected it was delicious and better than my expectations because the chicken was still soft and tender after it was reheated even though it was white meat and the chutney was gorgeous because it was slightly sweet with a tart mango taste.
After mixing the rice, masala sauce and chutney everything just tasted bliss.
The naan is slightly different to the ones you get in Indian restaurants because it was thick and soft.

The best branch of Marks and Spencers in Hong Kong

A few years ago you would probably only find one or two lame branches of Marks and Sparks in Hong Kong because not many people appreciate British Food.

But over these years people are more adventurous and willing to spend more on food, and it is great that there is a surge of expats such as French and Belgians.

The location of this branch is in the heart of Central just by the escalators and it is annoyingly next to my favourite NOOD health bar because they serve amazing smoothies and salads as well.

This branch is huge and has all of my favourite foods.

On my first visit, I had the summer jelly which was colourful and refreshing which I ate at the bar table!!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Summer Jelly cubes:

It had a layer of lime jelly, pineapple jelly and pomegranate jelly.

Definitely worth trying because it is cooling and not too sweet!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Hand cooked purple and orange sweet potato crisps:

The sweet potato and purple potato crisps were a bit too crispy and hard but the orange potatoes tasted better.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Lime salsa, chickpea, cumin tortilla scoops:

These were quite nice because they had a strong refreshing lime taste.★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Lemon cooked harissa potato crisp:

These were a bit salty and the lemon was not strong enough.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Devon scones:

These were amazing and full of flavour even if you ate them plain because they are enriched with buttermilk and clotted cream.

I didn't have any fresh cream so I used yogurt instead which was also good.

Marks and Spencer's Sour cream and chili lentil curls

Sour cream and chili lentil curls:

I got these curls because they reminded me of quavers but the texture was slightly crispier.
It had a really strong chili kick to it and I loved the tones of sourcream.

More sweet treats from Marks & Spencer

Just felt like some dessert so went to Marks and Spencers for some yoghurt and ended up buying other items as well.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Strawberry fruit fool:

I always had this as a kid but I never really looked at the label to see what it was made of.
Basically the strawberry fruit fool is Strawberries mixed with whipped cream.
It has a lovely light whipped texture with a natural strawberry taste, great on a summers day.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cider fizz with a hint of spice:
Cider cocktail flavoured with nutmeg, cinnamon and cloves.

I don't drink, but this tasted really nice.
It tastes just as good as appletiser (formerly known as appletise in the early 1980s) but it has a sweeter taste with fragrant spices from the nutmeg and cinnamon.
I wouldn't mind drinking this again because the alcohol volume is quite low.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Salted caramel & Hazelnut Luxury yoghurt:

I couldn't quite taste the salted caramel, but I loved it because it was thick and it had a lot of crushed nuts in it with the usual tartness of yoghurt.
