Hong Kong style Roast duck burrito

Saw on Cali-Mex's facebook that they were going to serve this Hong Kong style Roast duck burrito with whole USA Duck roasted to perfection sliced onto their homemade 12” tortilla served with Mexican rice, sliced cucumber, fine leek, fresh cabbage and a special fusion chipotle mayo hoisin sauce.

When I ordered I was asked them if they did a bowl version and they must have thought I wanted a bowl version which is why it was not a burrito.

The duck burrito bowl was good but the hoisin sauce in the mixture was not prominent enough and there was not enough sauce to give it that kick.
I felt that if there was more hoi sin sauce then it would have made it tastier because hoi sin sauce contains yellow beans which has that beanie kick to it that is similar to refried beans.

Maxim's Tiramisu cake slice

The Tiramisu cake slice from Maxim's was actually quite nice.
It was dusted with coffee powder and the cake in the middle was moist with delicious whipped cream layers.

Peking noodle joint in Sai Kung

Tried this new noodle joint in Sai Kung because I was craving for some spicy food again.
They specialize in two types of noodles: flat and round

The menu has Chinese and English.

Ordered the lamb in Sichuan peppercorn broth and chose the round noodles.
The presentation was a bit boring but the broth was extremely strong and had a strong numbing sensation.
I made the wrong choice choosing the round noodles because they were too chewy and firm and the broth was too salty to the point that it tasted bitter.
Anyway, next time I will choose the white pepper broth with the flat noodles.

Frozen Crystal dessert ball

To coincide with the Disney film Frozen, Maxim's have launched a series of cakes and desserts.
I tried the desserts which were beautifully designed like a crystal ball that cost $42 each.

This was the most creative dessert I have seen so far produced by Maxims with the spoon incorporated as part of the design.
There are two flavours: Chocolate or White chocolate mousse.

The white chocolate mousse has white chocolate flakes and marshmallows on top. It was not as sweet as I anticipated and I was delighted to discover some strawberry slices and cake at the bottom.

The other one was chocolate mousse which was thick and silky topped with chocolate and marshmallows on top.
After finishing the dessert and cleaning it out, you are left with a pretty crystal ball!

Brunch at the races

Had brunch at The Haymarket which brings rustic England to Sha Tin Racecourse.

There were counters for cooked to order omelettes, salad and sashimi bar.

At the far end was a patisserie bar which becomes a dessert bar at 1:30pm.

The menu that day had burger, fish, pork chops and risotto so I chose the crab and tomato risotto.

Here are photos of what I had:
The omelette was amazing, it was soft and fluffy with a fragrant egg taste and the potatoes, mushrooms and cheese made it extremely yummy.

Had my favourite cheeses with bread.
The risotto was really creamy with a light tomato taste.

The dessert was good but I was quite full at that time.

Celebrate Christmas with Kee Wah's festive box set

I used to think Kee Wah Bakery sold just mooncakes, Chinese Bakery and Preserved sausages but it was more modern than I thought.

As well as Chinese tea leaves they also have festive products for Christmas.
They have launched a Christmas Box set for $135.

There are three tins.
In the Red tin you will find Chinese style shortcakes in Pineapple and mango flavour.

For candy lovers, the white tin is filled with cranberry and almond nougats and pumpkin seed crunchies that were not too sweet.

In  the green tin, it was filled with crumbly cookies.

There plastic box is well labelled in English and Chinese which makes it a great Christmas gift for everyone.

Purple shock from Maxim's MX

I have always thought that Maxim's MX was boring so when I walked past I was shocked and stunned to see that they had Sweet purple potato juice.
After I ordered it people began to order it because they didn't seem to notice it or they were not brave enough to risk it.

Sweet purple potato juice:

The juice was quite thick with pieces of sweet potato lumps in it and the sweetness was just right with a fragrant purple sweet potato taste.
It is almost like having a Chinese sweet soup but the sweetness is not so intense.
The drink is good for breakfast because it was very filling but having a cup of it is a bit too much!!
