The beauty of Bread & Beast

Went to the Tong Chong Street market and tried the Philly cheese tongue which is an exclusive bun served by Bread & Beast at the market.

Samples of the food at the stall.

The Philly cheese tongue is sandwiched with ox tongue, caramelized onions, American cheese, mustard and sauerkraut.

It was really good because the sauerkraut made it really appetizing and the beef tongue was thinly sliced.

I also tried the lotus root chips which were smothered in sauce.

TVB under the knife, TVB gets knifed

::::TVB mooncakes by Maxims::::::

I love TVB and we had TVB in Europe, they started off with video rentals for TV series but now they have satellite channels where they sometimes broadcast stock series so we get to watch them earlier before they are broadcasted in HK.
Subscribers would get a TVB calendar every year that has the current Miss HK pageants on the front page.

Anyway, someone had mooncakes from TVB so we were really lucky to try them.

They are made by Maxims.
In the box there are two flavours:
White lotus seed paste and egg yolk and lotus seed paste and egg yolk.

Basically they taste the same as the ordinary Maxim's mooncakes which are sweet and sickly.

Chi Lin Vegetarian red bean Mooncake 2015

The last time I tried this was in 2011 because someone shared it with me.

This year, my colleagues shared it with me and it was the red bean and orange peel flavour.
It was delicious because it was not too sweet with a strong orange peel taste and the mooncake was gone in a flash hence I didn't get a chance for pictures.

Nitro coffee from Common Ground

I am not a fan of coffee but the Nitro Coffee was actually really good because there is not much coffee in it and the taste is not strong or bitter.
You get to choose a topping which is like whipped cream.

There are three flavours: chocolate, tea or milk.
Both the tea and chocolate were tempting.

The tea cream was thick and creamy with a light tea taste and when it was mixed into the drink, the creaminess smoothed out the bitterness of the coffee.

3/3rds toasted cheese

A few months ago I was in the area so went to 3/3rds and it was shockingly full even though it was located in an isolated factory in the middle of nowhere.

I was so glad that 3/3rds had a pop up stall at Tong Chong Markets because wong chuk hang is a bit too far.

I tried the cheese toastie because the exclusive dish was sold out.
The cheese toastie was quite good with gooey melted cheese in the middle that had a mild sharp taste.

Breakfast sub from Hong Kong's Subway

Subway is famous for subs, but this time I got a breakfast sub, there are three fillings you can choose: egg and cheese, egg and ham or egg and bacon.
The egg was different to the egg on the product shot!
The one you get is mashed egg mixed in mayonnnaise.

There is the usual choice of sauces but for egg, I felt that salt and pepper were the best choices to go with it.
Overall, it tasted ok, just like the egg and mayo sandwich filling but I would prefer the scrambled egg that was shown on the product shot.
If you have tried the subs in the UK, you wouldn't want to eat the subs from Hong Kong which are laced with MSG and the breakfast subs in Hong Kong are such a joke.

Icecream hotdog at What's Dogs

I regretted not getting the ICEDOG which is basically a hotdog bun with softserve icecream in the middle.

I went for the creamy baked potatoes which was a bad choice because the sauce didn't look creamy and the oil got separated from the sauce and it was quite oily at the bottom.

The garlic was too overpowering, so all I could taste was garlic and I ended up with a garlic breath at an event I was attending.
