Durian nectar drink by Super Star Seafood Restaurant

Super Star Seafood Restaurant is basically famous for food, but they have drinks and desserts too.

Durian nectar drink:

I got their Durian nectar which has jelly balls and barely noticeable durian pieces in it.
The Jelly balls were quite big and probably oversoaked.

As for the drink it was too sweet and lacked Durian taste.
Although the drink is called Durian nectar, you can only get nectar from plants.

Ku Cool Durianlicious grass jelly drink @ 小甜谷

Although the main branch is in Tai Hang, I have never tried it before, but when I walked past this branch and looked at the menu they had various durian drinks, which seemed nice, so decided to try that.
There were other items I wanted to try such as the milk pudding but this is only available at the Tai Hang branch.

I did not know SiuTimGuk [Xiao Tian Gu] was opened by Jo but that explains why there is a GUK in the name and so many celebrity photos on the wall.

Durian drink with grass jelly:
When it came, almost half the cup was filled with grass jelly, which was rather generous.
I was really surprised it tasted nice and not too sweet, it was lovely and creamy and not icy.
They put real durian and not flavouring however I think they chose a durian that did not have strong flavours incase some people were not keen on Durian.
As well as grass jelly they also had some sago in the drink too.
All in all, it tasted like a lovely thick milkshake without the ice.

Chocolate pudding:
Again another surprise! The jelly was the reason why I got the pudding because the jelly was glistening like gold, but I could not taste any alcohol as mentioned in the other reviews.
Although there was no alcohol taste, the chocolate taste was really nice and chocolately because there was a good balance and cocoa and milk. There are some chocolate puddings that just taste of strong cocoa or just milky but this one tasted like melted Galaxy chocolate mixed with Gelatin.
When I put the spoon in it, I was surprised the dessert was quite firm to the extent that it came off the bowl cleanly.
The texture could be described as curded plastic or those steamed chinese puddings such as bootjaigo but with a really firm texture.
The orange jelly on top was even firmer than the pudding, which was quite appropriate, because it made chocolate pudding not so firm in comparison.
As well as jelly the pudding was topped with orange rind and crushed cashew nuts which also complemented the pudding nicely.

Second round of desserts @ Your Restaurant

After trying four delicious desserts last time, this time I was back for more.

I got Durian mousse, Chocolate mousse, Milk tea sawdust pudding.

++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Chocolate mousse
The chocolate mousse was dusted with chocolate curls.
Overall I found it too cloyingly sweet otherwise it would have tasted nice.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Durian mousse
I wasn’t sure if this was going to taste nice because sometimes when Durian is made into a dessert it tastes fake and too creamy when they add cream into it.
The texture of this mousse was extremely light with fine mousse bubbles in it.
The durian taste was strong and it was not too creamy and there was pieces of durian in the mousse as well.
The pieces of durian that they put in the mousse were not that ripe but matched the mousse because the pieces of durian were sweet and had a slight crisp fibrous texture to it so you taste and feel the real pieces of durian in it as well.
Overall the mousse tasted like eating a real aerated durian that was blended into a mousse.
Towards the end it started to taste too sweet.
The only unpleasant experience was burping durian odour the whole day.
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Milk tea sawdust pudding
I do not like Chinese milk tea but as a dessert there is less bitterness taste to it and they probably do not use condensed milk.
The sawdust pudding tasted like milk tea mousse with fine biscuit crumbs on top.

Durian Paratha @ Ali Baba Curry House

I rarely order Parathas because the ones I have tried before were oily and spicy.
However this place offers Durian which is not bad for a dessert.
It tastes like a chewy Indian crepe!
The paratha was filled with Durian puree which was evenly distributed and it was not too sweet.
For Durian lovers I felt that the taste of Durian was weak, but for people who cannot stand Durian it may be strong for them!
I was quite impressed with the paratha because my fingers were not oily after eating it.
It would be fun and delicious if they could make a chocolate paratha or caramel paratha.
Anyway, I think I will get a plain one next time and put some sweet sauce on it and write an update!
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
How the Durian Paratha was made:
Durian puree is put on the paratha
The paratha is folded in square
The paratha is heated until it is ready to eat
Finished product
