Addicted to eating snow at Snow Story

At Snow story, they specialize in Macaron icecream sandwiches and snow desserts!!

Had two desserts.

The price was confusing because on the first visit, they did not ask me which size I wanted and gave me the big one but on the second visit I was given the smaller size which is evidently different in price.

Macaron:
I ordered this one because of the tiny macarons.
When it came, there was a scoop of icecream and chocolate syrup which I did not ask for and it was not on the product shot.

The strawberry icecream ruined it because the strawberry taste was extremely artificial.

The snow beneath it was not sweetened because they give you a side of condensed milk to add it it.
The condensed milk was not a good thing to add to it because it does not go on evenly and clumps the snow around it together.
It would be great if they had a shaker filled with sugar.

Cute macarons.

Original:

This was much nicer because it had chewy mochi in it but I can't understand why they give you these weird Chinese shaped spoons which make it difficult to eat with.
The Korean video shown at the desserterie shows a metal spoon, so why do they give you an unergonomic Chinese spoon here??!!

Softserve with candyfloss at Honey Creme

Finally tried Honey Creme.

The softserve with the honeycomb or honey is probably the simplest and best but I decided to choose the candyfloss one because it looked better.

It was quite difficult to eat because you have to eat the candyfloss first so by the time you get to the softserve it is not sweet enough.

K-pop Korean grill hits Mong Kok

Restaurant: MeokBang Korean BBQ & BAR (Prince Edward)

Korean BBQ is getting popular and now there is one in Mong Kok on Nathan Road.

It is down the basement with hip décor, fume extraction fans and you can neatly store your bags in the seat by lifting the seat top off.

Usually with BBQ, you just get Wagyu beef and Iberian Pork but with Korean BBQ, there are so many rare cuts I have not seen before.
You can literally try any part of the pork or beef!

The menu was amazing and I deeply appreciate their menu because it has English, Chinese and Korean with photos which really helps when people are not familiar with the cuts.

There is a good selection of seafood too to cater for people who do not eat much red meat.

Started off with the ox tongues and ox belly which was thinly sliced and easy to cook.

The belly was served with lettuce to balance out the fattiness which made it delicious and appetizing.

Then we had the Prime spare ribs which was a huge piece of meat that was unrolled on the grill, then cut into pieces when it was nearly cooked.

The rib was juicy and soft with an even fat marbling.
It was followed by my favourite juicy rib eye which was fun grilling that.

After getting through a fair bit of beef, we were given some chilled pumpkin and wolfberry puree which was sweet and soothing.

It was time for seafood and vegetables.

I was surprised they had Ganjang Gejang (Raw Crab Marinated in Soy Sauce) as well as specializing in BBQ meats.

As a carb lover, it was comforting having delicious warm rice with yolk like crab roe that was flavoured by the soy sauce.

After that, we grilled the huge prawns which were neatly sliced in the middle to make it easier for grilling.

The egg on the edges were ready to eat.

We then took a break from grilling and had the pan fried zucchini pancakes and the panfried seafood pancake which were filling.

The noodles were also soothing because Korean noodles were iced and they have sweet crispy pear slices in it.

If you have been watching Korean soaps, you would have noticed them eating Pig's skin and they have it here too!~
The texture is really different to the Chinese ones which are springy with capillaries. The pig's skin was surprisingly chewy with a strong elasticity.

Last but not least, INTESTINES of pork and beef which I did not try.

After all that I was extremely full and I would recommend this place for gatherings where people can try different cuts of pork and beef.
On the menu, there are some interesting cuts like chuck flap tail and skirtmeat.

As well as good food, there are a wide range of drinks too including Korean alcohol such as chamisul-fresh, Chung ha, Backseju, Maehwasu, Sansachun, Maggeolli, bokboonjaju, Erdinger, Asahi and HITE Hite.

Bingo it's Bingco from the Food Expo 2014!

Bingco got the most attention at the recent food expo because of the huge long extruded icecream cones that could be made in any shape.

[Photos from Food and Expo 2014]

Now you can get them at Tin Hau, just left of the MTR exit.

The display J cones look like deep fried fish gas bladders (炸鱼鳔)!

When I went, the cones were not ready and the media were there doing a shoot so I left and visited another day.

They didn't have any cones that day so I got the softserve.
There were two flavours: banana and milk or vitasoy which happen to be both that I don't like.
Out of the two I chose vitasoy because banana usually has an artificial taste.

Vitasoy softserve:

The vitasoy softserve was actually quite nice because it tasted like a creamy version of vitasoy and it was not too sweet.
I would have preferred plain vitasoy softserve because I found the cereal and ovaltine powder too distracting.

School Food again at School Food

I love the rolls at School Food so went there again.

This time had rolls and more rolls.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Flying fish roe mari:

It was my first time ordering this and it was and interesting mix of flying fish roe, micro cress and black sesame which gave it a nice crispy crunch with popping fish roe that gave it some saltiness.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Squid mari:

As usual this was delicious with a piece of spring squid and spicy pickled vegetables in the middle.
Each piece was moreish.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Spam mari:

Plain and simple with spam and pickled vegetables.
This time it was quite spicy because there was quite a fair bit of spicy pickles in it

Korean BBQ trend hits CWB

Attended a soft opening at this new restaurant.

The decor of this place was very Korean with oil drum seats.

Each table had a grill and directly above the grill was a fume extractor.

Here was the set we tried.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Hongchoade:

Hongchoade is a diluted vinegar drink which was great with the grilled meats.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Set meal:
The set meal came with salad which had a black sesame dressing.

A dipping sauce

Kimchi and pickled daikon.

More vegetables.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Meats:
For meats, there was pork and beef and on the top plate, there was seafood.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Egg:
While you are grilling the meat, there is egg on the rim which slowly cooks.

I was surprised the egg was really tasty that we had seconds.

The grilled meats were tasty and my favourite was the marinated beef which was juicy and sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Patbingsu:
For desserts we had Patbingsu which is shaved ice.
There was one with red beans and one with yellow bean powder.

The texture of the dessert was amazing, it was like snow and dessicated coconut and it just melted in your mouth.
