The new Belgian Waffle concept - WAFFILLS

When I was on my way to a tasting nearby, I spotted this brightly lit Waffle shop!
It's logo is distinctive, bright and bold illustrating only one thing, a WAFFLE.
The name WAFFILLS has hidden meanings in it.... Waffles FILL you up....Waffles FILLED with fillings...

Anyway, I was thrilled to see they do savoury waffles.
There are five savory waffles on the menu:
- Cheese burger waffle
- BBQ pulled pork
- Chicken tikka massala
(chicken, red pepper, red chili, garam masala)
- Thai prawn
(prawns, thai spices, tomatoes and coconut milk)
- The vegetarian waffle
(cauliflower, peas, carrots, potatoes and lentils)

Ironically, there used to be a waffle shop here called Waffle Dog but I can't remember it's exact location but it was roughly on this spot or next door.

I ended choosing the plain waffle with cream and caramel sauce.

The waffles here are different to the ones you get elsewhere because the square indents are much bigger and the thickness is thinner.
To my amazement, the taste was as light as wafer with a light chewyiness.
The sweetness was just right too.

Chicken Tikka waffle:

I loved the box because it made it easier to eat without getting my fingers sticky or burnt.

It was simply delicious, I loved the structure of it because it was actually two waffles fused together with filling in the middle and not two loose waffles with filling just about to fall out.
The taste of the waffle was not sweet which was great because I am fed up with all these Asian places doing savory items with sweet breads and pastries.
They are just like the French crepes were they use proper savory bases for savory crepes.
Anyway, I loved the savoury taste and the chicken tikka filling was gorgeous in delicious gravy with pieces of onion and tender chicken and it was not too spicy either.

While your waiting, you can always doodle on their board with chalk.

New waffle craze at Tai Hang

The Pudding Nouveau is brought to you by the Lassana Group.

It is located in Tai Hing which is great news for people on the Hong Kong side because Tai Hang is such a nice place for gatherings with great restaurants nearby.
They serve a good variety of desserts.

There are savoury items as well.

During the weekends, they serve all day breakfasts.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mushroom risotto:

The risotto can be cooked to your preference ie soft or al-dente.
It was rich but I would prefer an equal ratio of rice to mushrooms because there were more mushrooms than rice.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Parma ham with rosemary bread:

A simple rosemary panini which was lovely served warm and filled with lean ham, tomatoes and cucumber.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mixed berry waffle:

Girls are going to love the waffles here because there is a wide selection and the portion is great for sharing.
The waffles were soft on the inside and crispy on the outside.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Vanilla milkshake:

I loved this thick vanilla milkshake because it was not too sweet with a strong vanilla and milk taste.
When you look closely at it, you will see lots of vanilla seeds in the drink.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Pudding trio:
Souffle, tiramisu and creme brulee

A fun trio of desserts to sample three things in one go.
The creme brulee was thick with a strong egg and vanilla taste, while the tiramisu was creamy and the souffle was light with a strong egg white taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mighty leaf tea:

I love this brand of tea because it has loose leaves in the tea bag which give out a stronger and fragrant tea taste.
Earl Grey is highly recommended.

Apple and cinnamon waffle @ WAFFFLE

WAFFFLE! (Central)
Went again for the new apple and cinnamon waffle.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Apple and cinnamon waffle:

It was different to the previous waffle on my last visit which had apple and cinnamon on top of the waffle.
This new one has apple and cinnamon mixed into the waffle dough.
The waffle was much nicer with evenly distributed hints of apple and cinnamon.
It was so delicious with the freshly whipped cream on top.

Waffles with ice cream at Triple O's

Triple O's by White Spot (Causeway Bay)

Went past Triple O's and saw that they had waffles with icecream, so I decided to try it.

It costs $28 a la carte or $18 extra with theirs sets.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Waffles with ice cream:

Basically there are two slices of waffles with a scoop of icecream and chocolate syrup in the middle.

The waffle was soft and slightly hard on the edges.
Personally I would have liked it with plain cream because the chocolate syrup and vanilla icecream made it a bit too sweet.
Basically these waffles were pre-made and re-heated to serve.

Whiffle waffling fun at Wafffle

WAFFFLE!

Shop B, G/F, Tin On Shing Commercial Building, 41-43 Graham Street,
中環嘉咸街41-43號天安城商業大廈地下B舖

I was on my way to Kau Kee when I saw this fun looking Wafffle shop which ruined my plan to Kau Kee as I had already eaten a quiche and a tart beforehand.

Anyway, I just liked the colourful comic design of the shop logo, not only was it impactful, there were fun flashing coloured squares at the bottom which look great at night.

(Note: Wafffles is spelt with three f's.)

There is another Belgian Waffle joint in TST but I never tried because it was a tiny shop and there were smokers outside.

The location of this shop is much better and really stands out from the street!!

Inside the shop, I loved the ceiling and the vivid colours were contrasted nicely by the black furnishings.

The lights were really nice too.

There was another MUST SEE item too!! The HUGE nutella jar!!!!

Waffles they serve:

Basically there is classic, waffle devil (chocolate) and special of the week.
The chocolate has solid chocolate in the middle (see picture below) so that it melts when it is heated up.

They had a nice choice of sauces and fruit syrups but I think cream is the best unless you have a real sweet tooth.

While your waiting for the waffles you can scribble on their board and have some fun.

Waffle with cream:

The size of the nutella jar next to a waffle!

The waffles in Hong Kong are American style and made with batter and dough which are usually too sweet for me to bother trying them.
They serve Liege waffles which are richer, denser, sweeter, and chewy.
I loved the chewyness of it and the crispyness of the surface.
The waffle was sweet because it had delicious caramelized sugar on the outside so I chose whipped cream with it to balance out the sweetness.
There were plastic forks but it would be great if there was a knife too because the waffle texture is quite chewy and to eat with just a fork.
Anyway, there is NO SUCH THING as a Belgian Waffle in Belgium, which is only known to the Americans, there are only Liege waffles, Brussels waffles, and Stroopwafels.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Almond waffle with whipped cream, fresh apples and apple and cinnamon sauce:

The sweetness of this was just right and the apple sauce and cream tasted so nice with the almond waffle.
There were bits of almond it the waffle too.

Take A Break with a waffle

Take A Break Cafe (Prince Edward)

Came here because it looked striking in the kowloon area.

You normally see these type of buildings in urban areas like Yuen Long and Sai Kung.
Anyway they basically serve waffles like the ones at Coffee Alley.

Thanks to Connie and Dull for arranging this trip or I would have been to lazy to go because it is located in the middle of no where.

Inside the cafe, it was actually quite small and cramped, the decor was interesting with huge chandeliers and paintings.

There is only one staff at this place so all the taking orders, cooking and drinks are done by him so you have to wait quite a bit.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Coffee:

I do not drink coffee but this was someone else's coffee.
The drink selection was a bit disappointing because the choice was limited and did not have fruit juice tea like Coffee Alley.
It was a choice of coffee, tea, milkshakes or lemon tea.
On leaving I discovered there was apple soda on the board outside which was too late.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
All day breakfast:

The breakfast was ok but a bit overpriced for $98 and the sausage was basically one whole sausage sliced in half.
Interestingly the bacon which I do not normally like was good because it was lean.
The breakfast costs $98 and includes a coffee, so if your coming for the pretty latte art then it pays off.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Waffles with strawberries:

The waffle was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside.
For the icecream I would prefer vanilla instead of strawberry because it tasted a bit artificial.
