Duck fat fries from The Butchers club

I love this new burger joint on Landale Street pumping with music.
They have these bright red, white and blue blinds which are colours that represent the American flag yet it has a Hong Kong touch to it because it reminds me of those woven bags!!

As I am not a beef fan, I just got the Duck fat fries for $20.
(The guy jokingly said that you could not order fries on their own)

They came in a cute box and the fries had coarse salt sprinkled on them.
These fries were deliciously salted by the salt and were soft inside, however I found then a bit too crunchy which is what hkepicurus would have liked.

Not the same fries at Calliburger

Caliburger (Wan Chai)

Went back to get my favourite fries.

Wild style fries:

I was quite annoyed because they have changed the fries.
The fries they served before were from Canada which tasted better in my opinion.
But now they are serving American fries which are crispy on the outside and soft on the inside with some potato skin attached.
The taste was nice and the locals probably like it more, but I prefer the Canadian fries because they were softer with a stronger potato taste.

B for Brilliant

B Takeaway (Western District)
A hip and chick burger joint on the corner of Catchick Street offering burgers, fish and chips and more.

I wanted to try the burgers but it was too hot that day, so I just went for their Belgian fries.
They were chunky flat cut chips and it came with some yellow sauce.

The chips had a nice starchy centre with a crispy surface, and the sauce was surprisingly nice because it was mildly sweet.

Chips with Edmond Fallot mustard sauce

Chip In Fish & Chips (Sai Kung)
I was back again for my favourite chips.

This time I had a jar of mustard which was given to me by La Rotisserie at the tasting.
Initially I planned to use the mustard on the roast chicken at Cheeky Chicken, but it packed up so suddenly.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chips:

As usual, the chips were perfectly fried and I put plenty of vinegar on it which makes them extremely appetizing.
After having a few, I used the Edmond Fallot mustard on the chips.
It was surprisingly quite good because the mustard had a slightly tart taste and did not have that powerful mustard sting to it.
Edmond Fallot's mustard sauce on chips is definitely good.

Part2:☆Γρεξοπ☆ΓΡΕΞΟπ☆Grecoπ☆Γρεψοπ☆Γκρέκοπ☆

Grecoπ (Wan Chai)

Grecoπ is a great place for Greek food, but it is located in the middle of nowhere!

A year later they have new items on the menu so I went to try them out.

They have two new desserts but it was not available when I went.

I would go again but this place is too far away and I really cannot be bothered to walk here despite the food is brilliant.

They sell taramasalata and hummus dips in the fridge.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fries with crumbled feta:

Since my last visit, I had forgotten how delicious their fries were.
There was crumbled feta on top which makes the fries more appetizing.
There were quite a few fries that were really long in length!
The length of the fries are about the length of a plastic fork.
They are even taller than a can of coke.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Grilled Greco burger:

Before I started devouring the burger I was delighted how it was neatly wrapped because not all burgers are presented in a nice way.
You could see they put effort in making the burger and each layer was neatly place including the sauce.
The patty was really nice and the texture of it was different, it tasted similar to kofte with herbs.

They also put two slices of cheddar in the burger.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Greek spinach pie:

The spinach pie was my favourite, wholesome spinach in the pie covered with delicate filo pastry.
It was filled with so much spinach!

If the pie had been warmer it would have been perfect.

How long will New York Fries last in Hong Kong

New York Fries (Tseung Kwan O)

New York Fries used to be the talk of town with their first branch at Harbour City.

Then they opened another one at Langham place and more popped up.
Unfortunately, there are now two branches left in Hong Kong and I wonder how long they will stay before they pack up!
I used to get New York fries at least once a week but since they localized the fries I don't really like them.
For some reason Hong Kongers do not like fried foods.
Ireland's potato is a good example.
The fries here are meant to be soft but they have now localised them and made them crispier by frying them longer (in my point of view - burnt!!).
The colour of the fries are really dark.
The fries I get from Chinese shops are over done, but this is how the locals like them.
At NYF, they have the usual condiments for hotdogs, eg olives, sauces, onions etc.

My favourite is always the vinegars, and Cajun seasoning.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Poutine:

Compared to the fries I got when they opened a few years ago, these are much darker.

The cheese is not cheese curds, they are basically cubes of cheese.
The fries were ok, but not as delicious as they used to be because they were too crispy and overdone for my liking.

Fresh hand cut fries @ Lamma Grill

As well as Tai O, Lamma Island also offers fresh Handcut fries at the Lamma Grill.

I already had lunch so stopped by just for fries.

When I went to order the fries, you could see a tray of freshly cut fries ready to be fried.

The fries were piping hot when they arrived and I put my favourite salt and vinegar on the fries.

The fries were delicious, with crisp skin, delicious starchy potato inside with a hint of sweetness.
They tasted perfect with salt and vinegar.

While the fries were divine, the biting insects were hell, I was bitten at least eight times before I finished the fries hence the low rating for the environment.

Chipping in for new items on the menu!!!

Chip In Fish & Chips (Sai Kung)

After the CNY I was back for more fish and chips because they have put more popular items on the menu that was not previously there.

salt and vinegar at the counter! yay~
The new items are:
*battered sausage
*mushy peas
*cheese and pickle sandwich

The great thing is that the prices have not gone up much.
The only slight bad news is that their Chip supplier have run out of chips so they are currently using an American supplier and the chips taste slightly different.
It is only temporary, so when their Belgium supplier is back I will get a chip butty with curry sauce.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Seafood basket:

As well as fish and chips, this was also my favourite, because it was literally a skewer with prawn, fish and squid dunked in batter and deep fried with the skewer in it.
I liked the skewer because the pieces are smaller and easier to eat.
It would be good if they had fish bites (pieces of fish in batter) for kids.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Mushy peas:

The mushy peas were scrumptious because they did not have mint mixed in it and they tasted fresh.
The colour was the natural green pea colour you would normally see and it was not the dark leafy green that you get in the usual mushy peas that come from the can.
The ingredients in the mushy peas were simple, it was milk, salt, pepper and butter and the quality of the peas tasted like the lovely Green giant brand which are famous for plump and sweet peas.

Since they were hand mushed there were a few peas that were not mushed adding to the lovely texture because they would burst with sweetness and they do not have that starchy texture that I do not like.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chips:

Although these chips were the American brand, they tasted ok because they were fried just right.
They were soft inside and crispy on the outside.
Compared to the the Belgian brand, the Belgian ones are sweeter and not that hollow inside.
I am so glad they have salt and vinegar at the counter so you can add more when needed.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cheese and pickle sandwich:

ere was generous pickle in the dusted soft bap with sliced cheese, it was not cheddar which is a good alternative for vegetarians.
It was similar to the cheese and pickle sandwich I had at FLAME in Wan Chai.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Anyway I can't wait to come back for more food.
