Marks and Spencers Cherry liqueurs

I love cherries so when I saw G's review I had to get it.
They were not in stock at Wan Chai so I had to get them from Central.

Cherry liquers:

Each one was bursting with liqueur and a juicy cherry.
The liqueur really kicked in because it was so strong.

Instant noodles in mock sharks fin soup at 陳記魚蛋

Previously tried this branch in Wanchai where the lady got her stardom scowling at the camera on axxxx xxxly.
Now that shop has closed so went to this branch.

Instant noodles in mock sharks fin soup:

Before she put the noodles in the bowl I had to stop her because she put the noodle condiments in the bowl as well which is going to make it super salty since mocks sharks fin soup has a strong taste with lots of MSG.
It is strange that is it not common sense to leave out the condiments if the sauce/soup is already flavoured.
I had the same experience with Instant noodles with Sichuan sauce at another joint which was ruined because they put the condiments in the noodles.
The noodles were quite slimey and good for slurping but you have to becareful because they were really hot.
Anyway, eating these noodles reminded me of Western pot noodles which have a thick soup.
There were pieces of shredded chicken which were tough and stringy because they were there just for the flavour.

All You Can Eat Restaurant at Banmoto

I quite like this place because it is in the heart of ladies market.
At the moment, not many people know about this place so it is nice and quiet.

The prices are quite reasonable but the choices are limited because I couldn't find tuna or some milk broths that other places serve.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
grass jelly juice:

As well as grass jelly, there are other drinks available.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
White toro:

This was soft with a strong umami taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
deep fried sweet purple taro:

This was more like dessert because it was sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
deep fried Japanese style tofu with cheese:

The texture was similar to fishcake and it was slightly rubbery with thick processed cheese in middle.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Sichuan style spicy noodles:

Interesting option at a Japanese restaurant but it was too spicy.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Kagoshima style black truffle poached egg:

This was delicious.
Truffle and eggs always go together.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
grilled chicken wings with sea salt:

The chicken wing was ok but I couldn't taste the seasalt.
Anyway, I dipped the chicken in the egg yolk from the dish above and it tasted really nice.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
ginseng chicken soup:

Tasted really bitter.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
fried banana with chocolate dressing:

Basically it was banana in delicate tempura coating.
I would have liked it without the chocolate sauce because it was good on its own.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
pan fried beansprouts

Simple but delicious with a hint of cracked black pepper but it was too salty.

Interesting pairing of apricot and chocolate

I was at Pacific coffee and this cake caught my eye because I don't often see chocolate cakes paired with apricot.
However you do get dried apricot chocolate bars.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chocolate apricot mousse cake:

There are not much apricots in the cake because on the other side of the cake there are no apricots (forgot to take a picture) .
Anyway, the mousse tasted clumpy but luckily the juicy apricots saved the day because the chocolate mousse was dry and tasteless and the white mousse on top just tasted like clumpy cream.

A taste of Australia at Yamm

I have always wanted to go to Yamm but it is always fully booked.
Managed to get a table while they were doing an Aussie themed buffet until the 28th of this month.
Normally restaurants will feature different themes like British, American, Italian, German, Indian, Thai, Japanese, Korean but Australian food is extremely rare.

Hopefully we will see other themes like Polish, Russian, African, Scottish, Nordic, Egyptian coming up.
For the Aussie themed buffet they had Aussie yabbies which are like Dublin prawns, balmain bugs, baked whole barramundi, whole rack of lamb and others dishes.

yabbies

balmain bugs

whole barramundi

whole rack of lamb
As I have a Western palate, all these were wonderful delights.
They had a nice range of cream cheeses.
-sundried tomato
-black pepper
-almond and apricot

For Asian palates, there was a good range of sushi and the much loved lobsters.

The tomato and lobster claw congee was divine. It tasted a like rich lobster bisque with a light tomato taste.

There was foie gras too.

If all that doesn't please you, there is a truffle pasta loaded with truffle.

Personally I liked the couscous, breads, the cream cheeses and the lobster claw congee.

Unfortunately I had a bit of a flu so I could only sample a few desserts.

The doughnut was my favourite because it was simple and delicious.

I can't wait to come again and hopefully they will have a different theme on the next visit.

Sushi Take Out's canned products

Sushi Take Out is a successful Taiwanese brand selling affordable sushi.

It is interesting that they have other products such as crab and tinned foods so I went for the tinned squids and salmon which are branded by Sushi Take Out.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Braised squid:

The texture of the squid was surprisingly good because it was springy not like other tinned foods where they are mushy and hard.
I found the taste too sweet so I rinsed it with water and it tasted much better.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Braised salmon bone:

The salmon was surprisingly good because it was labelled salmon bone so who the heck would want to eat bones.
Again, the salmon had a natrual soft texture which was not mushy or hard and the bone was soft and edible so it was my first experience being able to eat salmon bones!
