Marks and spencers Milk Chocolate with raspberries

Thanks to 糖小妹 for getting me this bar of chocolate.

Raspberries and chocolate are always a good pairing.

The wrapping for this bar of chocolate was nice too.

The chocolate had so much freeze dried raspberry pieces in it which made it really enjoyable and I really liked it because the raspberry taste was really prominent.

Fried chicken leg set for $25

Yat Yuet Sing Fast Food Shop (Kowloon Bay)

The fried chicken legs here are great so decided to get it again.

This time I got the set for $25 which has a drink, ham sandwich and fried chicken leg.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chicken leg:The chicken was rather dry on this visit and it did not come off the bone easily.
It was difficult to eat because it was extremely hot and would not cool down in the hot weather.
It was nice of them to supply a disposable plastic glove so you didn't get your hands oily.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Ham sandwich:It was buttered bread with a slice of ham in the middle.

I took the ham out and put chicken, crispy chicken skin in it instead and the chicken sandwich tasted much nicer.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Drink:There was a choice of fizzy drinks, HK style tea or coffee which I do not drink but chose coke for the sake of choosing it and had a few sips.
It was fizzy unlike other places that serve flat drinks.

Das gute Chocolate chip soft cookies

Das Gute Cafe (Tai Koo)

Thanks to 糖小妹 for getting me these lovely cookies from Das Gute and Congratulations to her because she has now reached the Pro Level on OpenRice.

They were chocolate chip soft cookies..

The taste of these cookies were really nice and there were lots of chocolate chips in it.
It had a buttery taste with delicious dark chocolate chips.
The only thing that was contradictory was they were hard and not soft.

The cake that does not need refrigeration

Maxim's Cake Shop (Wan Chai)

I was attracted by this cake because there is a pretty pink heart when you slice the cake.

When I saw the cake on display, I thought it was just a display cake, but they told me it was a cake that did not need refrigeration which was why it could be displayed outside the fridge.

It was quite interesting because there was butter cream on top which did not need refrigeration.

The fact that it did not need refrigeration was great because in this hot weather cream just melts and goes bad.

I did not hesitate and bought the cake for $108 because of the pink heart.

My cake looked slightly different from the product shot because the one on the product shot had macarons and the one I bought had rice paper flowers on top.

This cake was simple, it was basically a chocolate cake base with butter cream on top, decorated with tiny cute red, pink and white hearts, silver candy balls and the butter cream was scraped giving the track patterns on top.

When I opened the box, there was a strong chocolate smell which was promising.

After cutting the cake, there was a perfectly cute heart on the cross section.

The taste of this cake was really nice too, the texture of the chocolate cake was firm and slightly dry which was balanced by the smooth chocolate butter cream.

The cake itself is slightly oily because it does not need refrigeration and you can see the knife is slightly oily.

As a whole I was really impressed with this cake, it was delicious, visually amazing and simple!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chillax = Chill and Relax?

Chillax 818 Coffee (Mong Kok)

I believe the name of this place Chillax is supposed to mean Chill and relax.

However I probably went on a wrong day! It was really hot that day so I decided to go in for some drinks and dine there.

When I went, there were not many people there.
I wanted to sit at the table at the back because I was going to order food but there was someone there who I thought was a customer but it turned out to be their staff.

I did not find this joint welcoming because they did not offer potential customers a decent table to dine.

It was impossible to sit on the seats near the entrance because it was practically too hot and there was lovely Carbon dioxide coming off from the mini buses with their idling engines still on as well as toxic second hand smoke.

There was a glass cabinet displaying the cakes, danishes and food.

In the end I ordered a rice and a danish and sat on the bar table.

When I was ordering the praline danish, I had to verbally make sure it was the square one because they put the labels the wrong way round and after I told them the labelling was the wrong way round, they still did not change it over (not that I care..).

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chicken masala rice:
I really liked it but not many people ordered it because when it was in the cabinet, there was a lid which made it hard to see the contents, but I managed to get a glimpse of yellow rice and brown rice so I ordered it.
This dish was very creative because it had yellow rice which reminded me of pilau rice.

It also had my favourite yellow zucchini which had a great paste.
Within the rice, there were cumin seeds too which added to the great flavour and masala sauce was great too, but there was not enough sauce to finish the rice.
The major complaint was that it was not heated thoroughly and the rice and chicken in the middle was not hot enough.
It was unbelievable having luke warm food on a hot day, perfect for food poisoning!
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Praline danish:
This was delicious but I was given just a fork which was useless because the base was really tough and after I asked them for a knife it was much easier, but the base was quite tough and hard to cut.
The danish itself was delicious and the praline filling tasted similar to light caramel taste.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Green tea latte:
I do not drink coffee so I ordered the green tea latte but after browsing the menu while I realised there was wild cherry tea which is probably even better.

The best thing about the latte was that you could have a non sweetened version.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
As a wrap up, the food was great but it was extremely uncomfortable dining there, especially on the bar tables because of the hot air coming from the entrance and the cramped high stools coming from a skinny person.

Buffet @ Neway Wan Chai

Neway Karaoke Box (Wan Chai)

Usually I go to CEO but when I got there, they said all the rooms on the buffet floor were booked and would not be available until 10pm which was ridiculous because it was only 5:40pm that day and there was nobody waiting at the lounge area.

On my previous visits the rooms were always available on the buffet floor.

Since I was allocated a room on a different floor I cancelled the booking as it was pointless paying for a room where you need to walk up and down, back and forth.

So I left this branch and went to the NEWAY on Hennessey Road. When I got there it was around 6:05pm and I was allocated an even better room a few steps away from the buffet area.

The price was slightly cheaper but only by $10.

As for the food, I did not expect it to taste as good as CEO but there were a few items that I liked.

Apart from the buffet, each room was given a plate of free noodles, which had about five different types of noodles on the plate with vegetarian sharks fin and sauce to mix it, but I felt that the sauce was too sweet.

My next favourite was the salmon and tofu soup, it did not have MSG.

As for the rest of the food, it was too salty.

They had quail eggs too but the yolk was still raw because when I was removing the shell, the yolk burst and the other quail yolk was semi cooked!!

Overpriced quiche

agnès b. Café LPG (Tsim Sha Tsui)

I was at TST and needed a light dinner so dined here because they had quiche.

There was spinach and mushroom and salmon and leek, so I chose the salmon.

It was quite expensive and costs $42 per slice.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Salmon and leek quiche:
I was expecting it to be better than the quiche at Pacific Coffee but it was worse.
There was not much salmon in it and the egg tasted like Chinese steamed egg.
The one at Pacific Coffee is not great but there were chunks of salmon and a good balance of egg and cheese in it.
I really wished they did not give me the salad because the greens were oxidised and the edges were almost black (it was not balsamic vinegar).
