Exquisite dim sum presentation

After having a great dinner I was back for dim sums.

They have buns shaped like mushrooms and roses so I decided to order them.
As well as that, the menu was a pretty catalogue.

Here was what we had:

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Green tea -spring "dragon well" leaves $58
The tea was grassy balanced by the gentle sweet notes of wolfberries.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
spiced ginger pork knuckle $68
Ordered this because it was served in a jar.
It had fiery crushed fresh ginger which gave it a grassy kick.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
drunken chicken $68

The chicken was tender infused with a strong wine flavour.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
pickled radish florets $48
The pickled radishes were crunchy with a sweet taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
peppered eggplants $48

These were soft with a sweet garlicky taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Steamed rose floret bun $29 1pc

Just like the mushroom bun, it was a delight when it was served.
A great food picture to post on social media for likes!!
They were fluffy and soft with a light rose flavouring.
It would be great if it was served on a banana leaf or a plate scattered with deep fried tea leaves or with a long biscuit stick cover in green tea powder to pretend to be the stalk.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
truffle shiitake buns (3pcs) $49 3/件
They are basically buns filled with chopped mushrooms and truffle coated in chocolate powder to look like they were just plucked from the soil.
These buns were delicious with warm mushrooms in the middle covered in fragrant truffle sauce.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
For desserts, I only had the sesame ball because I was quite full.
cookies & cream $36
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
coconut red bean cup $36
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
osmanthus honey blossom cup $36
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
sesame ping pong (3pcs) $39

This was the best sesame ball I have had but the menu could have had more information to say that it was filled with pineapple since most people would be expecting red beans.
The pineapple filling tasted so much better because it was thick and chewy with a fruity pineapple taste.

BIttermelon with noodles at 豆花妹撈米線

This place is a good for fast, cheap, filling and tasty food.

The small bowl of noodles is always good in the late evenings to fill your hunger without overloading your stomach.
This time they had bittermelon so I chose that but unfortunately it was too sweet for my liking but the noodles were just as good as always because the meat sauce was tasty and spicy.

A modern Chinese social dinner

It's not that I don't eat Chinese food but the environment is often noisy with piercing ceramics clinking together but here the atmosphere was so modern and chic.

After you sit down, you just order and eat, they won't give you bowls of tea to rinse your chopsticks.

However, there is a sense of humour on their plates which features plate art, some are decorated with flies and some are decorated with ants.

In the middle of the restaurant, there is a table tennis table where people can play before they have food and when they have large groups of people, the table can be used as a normal dining table.

We were pretty hungry so here was what we had:
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Double-boiled clear soup:
4hrs daily double-boiled soup - Silkie chicken soup boiled with cordyceps flower- $78
The broth was strong with a sweet chicken flavour.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
signature chicken soup in young coconut $78

The broth was clear with a fragrant sweet coconut taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
dragon beard kale $79

The kale was artistically sliced hence it was curly like a dragon beard.
I found it quite difficult to pick up with chopsticks but other than that it had a nice gingery taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
spicy 1,000yrs duck eggs and tofu $48

This was a nice appetizer of silky smooth tofu covered in delicious gravy which was blended with sichuan peppercorns.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
spicy 1,000yrs duck eggs $48

The preserved eggs were elegantly presented in the shape of goldfishes.
It was a pleasure to eat them.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
signature roasted white king pigeon:

The pigeon skin was crispy and tasty and the pigeon meat was soft and supple.
It tasted like a baby goose with crisp skin that was not fat.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
aged balsamic chicken wings (4pcs) $78

The chicken wings are definitely recommended because they have an extremely light crispy coating, eat bite was fulfilling because the sauce was sweet and sour.
The wings have been ripped inside out with a bone removed to make it easier to eat.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
golden jumbo tiger prawns $268

These were prawns cooked in Laksa broth, each was one springy and spicy with a strong creamy coconut flavour.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
slow-braised chicken feet $89

The chicken feet were sticky and sweet and I liked the way the bright green peas gave it a nice colour contrast.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
crispy beef roll w/ spicy dip $99

The beef was coated in batter served with a bowl of curry sauce.
It was tender beef in the middle with a crispy coating complimented by the delicious thick curry sauce.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
double-boiled pear+aged mandarin peel $59

For desserts we had the double boiled pear which was a sweet finish.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Will come back soon for the dim sums.

功夫's 2015 Chinese New Year treats

Got these from Kung Fu Dim Sum.

Tried the White radish cake with preserved Chinese sausages and I liked the chunky white radish pieces in the middle with the dried shrimp and preserved sausages.
It was not too salty which was great.

The next day I tried the coconut milk CNY pudding.

After slicing and pan frying it, the pudding was ready to eat.
You can either pan fry it directly or dip the cake in egg before frying.
The pudding was similar to mochi but the texture was much denser and stickier and not too sweet with a hint of coconut milk.

Eating food in a gutter at 豆花妹撈米線

To be honest, I don't like this branch because it is in the heart of MK and the bar table where you eat the noodles is in a stinky alley with lots of people smoking.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tofu noodles:

They were too salty this time.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Just the right size for me at Yo Yo SHAKE

I love their milkshakes because they blend icecream into it but to be honest the standard ones are a bit too much for one to finish.

Walked past and saw the green apple milkshake so decided to get it and it is great they have this new Micro size series.

The price is good too because I got them at half price when they first opened so once you've had that offer it is hard to fork out at full price psychological unless it is really good because milkshakes are not a necessity but a sweet treat.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
green apple milkshake:

The green apple milkshake was thick with a strong vanilla icecream base but the apple taste wasn't strong.
Unfortunately it was slightly too sweet even though I asked for it to be less sweet.

Djiboutii chicken!

This place reminded me of The Brickhouse in Central because it is well hidden in an alleyway.
I had the haloumi wrap but I was quite annoyed they put garlic mayonnaise and not muhamarra sauce as stated on their facebook.
The garlic mayonnaise sauce was a bit boring.

Then I had the roast chicken which was amazing, the chicken skin was fantastic and tasty with a nice lemon and herb taste.

The sides that came with it were divine, especially the Quinoa because it had cumin and the rice was soft and fluffy!!
