Children's egg white dessert @ Lung Fung Cafe

On my last visit they had a large egg white dessert that was served after nine and you would need quite a few people to share the dessert.
However this time I walked past they had a junior version of the dessert for $39 so I decided to try it.

It was really good because they had a variety of choices for the egg white dessert such as red beans, green beans, mixed fruit, grass jelly, coco de nata and pineapple.
In the end I chose grass jelly.

Junior egg white dessert with grass jelly:
When it came, it was a bowl containing a scoop of dreyer's vanilla icecream (acc to the menu) at the bottom surrounded with grass jelly and topped with whipped egg white.
Compared to the large version, the whipped egg white was not baked but I wonder if it was meant to be baked.

It was decorated with cocoa powder and chocolate syrup.

Overall the taste was really nice and not too sweet because the icecream and whipped egg white complimented the grass jelly nicely.
It was an interesting pairing of Chinese jelly with western dessert elements.

There is now a branch in Wan Chai which I have not checked out yet, but it would be interesting if they were located next to the other Lung Fung restaurant near the historic blue house.

Buffy the bakery @ 波菲 Buffy's Bakery

The name of this bakery reminds me of buffy the vampire slayer, however the bakery there is fabulous.
I really like their simple packaging, they have used self adhesive plastic bags.

I have brought good buns from here before, but the shop looks different to the one in Tsuen Wan. Anyway today I got the pistachio souffle cake and the seaweed crunchies.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Souffle cake:It was so dreamily delicious, I need to get more next time, I was expecting some sweet old cake, but it was soft like chiffon, and the pistachio paste in the middle was smooth as truffle.
The pistachio paste was very nutty with a slight bitterness.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Seaweed crunchies:Not as good as it should be, like all Asian bakeries, all the savouries items will taste sweet.
However its textures and shape is exactly the same as the british JACOB’s Twiglets, a wheat based crunchy.

Fruit shots in Test tubes @ Sweetacy

Before I actually came here, I expected a hip and chic place from the dessert pictures and logo, I got this impression from the desserts, you can just see effort has been made into making the desserts, even the logo looks good too.
Interestingly the logo design was outsourced to designers on the internet.

I really liked the interior, it was very classy, there are private rooms convenient for celebrities holding private gatherings away from the paparrazi.

I really liked the silver cups and plates too, the sugar holders, and the paper stars hung on the ceilings, some how I have seen them on sale in uk before.

The drinks menu was good too, they even had earl grey tea, but i didnt like the frothed milk which I thought was for coffee only.
Although it is a dessert place, I felt it was a good place for high tea rather than desserts, because I am not a fan of chinese desserts, so the western selection was perfect with a cuppa.

However the menu could have been better, one page was helpfully in English, however one of the critical pages didnt have English, especially the one with the Western dessert selection set, I had to guess what some of them were.

For the western selection, I chose carrot walnut cake, creme brulee and apple roll.
The carrot walnut cake was the best, firm, wholemeal cake base and butter cream.
The apple was a bit disappointing, however the apple bread pudding was the best, slightly modified from the original using apples instead of raisins.

The fruit shots were ordered for fun, I didnt expect myself to like them, I only liked the strawberry one, as this is closer to Western fruits. The rest was just the normal chinesey mango flavour and guava flavours.

The souffle was good, soft and light and not too sweet.

Desserts buffet at $98 per person @ Kaneda

I have been wanting to go to Ant One’s for the dessert buffet, but it is only available in the evenings, however when I walked past Kaneda, I saw the dessert buffet for only $98 per person including bottomless drinks.

There are a total of 22 desserts to choose from which is about the same as Ant One, however Ant One offers Chinese desserts as well. Although Kaneda doesn’t have Chinese desserts such as fried sweet dumplings, it was not a loss to me since I do not like Chinese desserts. The items that I wanted to try at Ant One were also available at Kaneda.

The desserts available were:

1) Chocolate cake with molten chocolate filling 2) Baked walnut cake 3) Italian cheese cake 4) Mango puff pastry 5) Green tea and red bean mousse 6) Strawberry pancake with custard cream 7) Ice-cream skewer 8) Serradura pudding 9) Creme brulee 10) Honey milk pudding 11) Apple crumble 12) Mango souffle 13) Mango pudding 14) Fruit profiteroles 15) Banana pancake with custard 16) Baked egg white with almond 17) Almond sorbet 18) Assorted cakes of the day 19) Chocolate milk pudding
20) Various ice-creams 21) Mango pancake with custard 22) Strawberry yoghurt mousse
23) Blueberry cheesecake nice sour berries 24) Mango cheesecake 25) Mango cake

1) Chocolate cake with molten chocolate filling
This was piping hot and the size of the ice-cream scoop and chocolate cake was super mini, it was slightly smaller than a tablespoon.

2) Baked walnut cake
This was not too sweet, nice and chewy, it was made of 90% walnuts and sweet syrup.

The desserts were served in tiny cups and dishes, there was a fresh plastic spoon every time, which not that environmentally friendly.

There were metal cutleries too, but the spoon couldn’t fit in the tiny dessert cups.

Improvements:
It would be good if there was a side plate to rest my used cutlery rather than directly on the table.
