NICEPOPS green apple and cucumber iced tea icelolly

Nicepops are now available at Little burro.

This brand has been in HK for quite a while but the flavours they had before did not interest me and I normally get my icelolly cravings from Icelicous or Lolas.
I finally tried it because of the green apple and cucumber iced tea flavour.

It was soothingly refreshing because of the cucumber and apple tones yet it was not too sweet.

Tai O greenhouse at the Tai O Lookout

It was an honour and a pleasure to join the Tai O food tour held by Tai O Heritage hotel because we got to try different joints in the lanes of Tai O.
There were three groups so each group tried different shops marked on their routes.
Tai O is a lovely town on water which is themed as a Chinese Venetian with stilt houses on water and they are also famous for fermented prawn paste.
As the tour was held by Tai O Heritage hotel, how could we not visit the hotel!!
Went to the Tai O Lookout which is a beautiful big greenhouse with scenic views of the place.

The drink was classy with two different colours which were roselle and apple juice.

After mixing it, the drink was very refreshing and not too sweet.

The others in the group had the abalone fried rice and quesadillas!!

Refreshing lemon tea at Tai O 其記

It was an honour and a pleasure to join the Tai O food tour held by Tai O Heritage hotel because we got to try different joints in the lanes of Tai O.

其記 was one of the shops on our list and I was really chuffed because I have tried it before and the lemon tea is fantastic.

The lemon tea here is unique compared to others served in Hong Kong.
It contains no lemon slices which give off a bitter taste due to the lemon peel.
When I saw reviews of this strange looking lemon tea I just had to try it, and it tastes just as good as the Lemon Tea at Greyhound.

The price of the lemon tea is cheap compared to Greyhound.
I rarely order Lemon tea in Hong Kong because the tea that they use is not my cup of tea and for cold lemon tea, you need to request for no syrup or less syrup because the standard ones are far too sweet but after requesting, it usually ends up far sweeter than it should.
As well as the taste, the appearance of the tea looks like tea with a few drops of milk added to it and some lemon bits floating about served in a glass with a straw.
It was interesting watching them make the lemon tea because they make it like cocktails where they add various liquids and pour from one glass to another ensuring the lemon tea cocktail is mixed thoroughly.

On the table, there was an interesting bowl of water with a metal pot inside.
The water is like a moat so that ants drown before they can get to the sugar!!
Hence the name gik say ngai in Chinese.

Light and dreamy egg puffs at Tai O Bakery

Our first stop was Tai O Snacks which are famous for Chinese pizzas and fried crusteans.
Then we tried this famous bakery a few doors away for the sugar and cinammon puffs which are called Chinese donuts.

The appearance is basically the same as the Tai Cheong donut but they taste amazing because they are light with a crispy surface and the amount of sugar is just right.
The puff is soft and chewy like a fried dough stick but it is light and airy like a choux puff.

DHL x Maxim's 2015 Mooncakes

My colleague gets mooncakes from DHL every year and each year they will surprise you!!!
DHL x Maxim's 2010-2014 Mooncakes:

This year, there was a cute DHL truck with Chinese tea inside and a separate box of mooncakes!

The mooncakes taste sweet and sickly and they are the same as the other mooncakes by Maxim's except the appearance.

Miss India in Mong Kok

Unfortunately I was in MK so I had to get dinner there.
I was deciding between this place and Calimex, but I have been to Calimex lots of times so dined here.

It was late that night and there were quite a few customers so the food took a while to come.
I had the mutter paneer which had too much herbs in it and the rice was over priced because they didn't have plain Indian rice so you are forced to order other Indian rices if you appreciated Indian food.

It was honest of them to state that it was Thai rice so people don't get get cheated when they think it is Indian rice.
The food was a bit overpriced for MK because I can get better Indian food in Central.

Explosive curry and staff at 新利記

Tried this place because I haven’t tried it.
It is a tiny grubby joint that is not that clean with vegetables on the floor.

As well as the décor, the lady was really memorable because she is really ferocious and commands people to their seats and takes your orders when she wants.

The curry I tried was almost the same as Sun King Yuen in Wanchai which is extremely hot and you could see people with their mouths gaping open as they ate the curry.
