Starbucks new Green tea and chestnut loaf

Saw photos of this new green tea loaf so decided to get it.

When I got to the WTC, the Starbucks on the ground floor has closed and there was a new one on the fourth floor with seats surrounding the escalators.

Luckily, there was still one piece left.

Green tea and chestnut loaf:

To be honest, I could not taste or see any chestnuts.
However, there were lots of fragrant roasted walnuts and the green tea loaf had a nice cakey taste with green tea flavouring that was not grassy.
The edges were a little bit dry but after adding some cream from the mocha, the green tea loaf tasted amazing.

Great chicken satay at Fook Kiu Indonesia Food

This joint on the corner stood out because it was bright yellow and the name looked a bit like Fxxk Ku pronounced in a foreign way!!

I settled for the chicken satay which cost $8.

As well as chicken satays, there are other things to eat.

It was scary seeing her grill it because the kitchen was tiny and the tiny griller was right beneath the sink!!!!

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chicken satay:

The taste of this was amazing, it was as good as the satay place in Shau kei wan, the chicken was tender with a gorgeous smoky flavour, and there was a strong sweet peanut flavouring.

The delights of 5S

Discovered this shop while I was walking on Anton Road.
When I went in, I loved the selection of sushi, salads, sandwiches and soup which is exactly what the 5S stands for!! How sweet.

5S stands for Sushi, Salad, Sandwich, Soup and Sweet.

I was delighted by the selection because it was Western food with a slight Asian touch to it.
The sushi was impressive because they had Modern ingredients put together and they had a choice of Roasted eel with cream cheese or cream cheese with mushrooms.
The labelling on the food was really comforting to see because they were the labels that you would find in the local British supermarket and 5S gave me that Sainsbury and Somerfield feeling.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cream cheese and mushroom sushi:
It was so cool to eat a sushi with Western ingredients.

The grilled mushrooms and the tart cream cheese paired wonderfully with the Japanese rice and the seaweed powder gave it that extra special savoury touch.

Can't wait to come back and try the other sandwiches!!

Being Streetwise on the New York City subway

I've never been to the US let alone NY city so I was excited about Street Meat which is a restaurant decorated like Prince St Station.

There was a Harvard gathering that night so we had to sit on the bar tables and Gordan Ramsey also opened his restaurant that night too.

Anyway, here was what we had and it was my first time trying all these items so I don't know if this is what you would really get in New York so I am just going to comment on the taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Flushing lamb wrap:
Sous vide lamb with grilled leeks and Xinjiang spices.

This was gorgeous and flavourful, there was quite a lot of sauce too which made it difficult to eat but the flakey roti pastry held it together.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Midtown Halal bowl:
chicken sous vide with secret white greek yoghurt sauce and iceburg lettuce

This was my favourite and surprisingly filling because there was rice beneath it which I didn't expect and the rice was crispy and sticky, while the chicken was tender in generous appetizing yoghurt sauce.
The chicken was slow cooked.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Prince Street Station Sliders:
Wagyu beef tongue, foie gras in a toasted bun.

I was expecting it in a bun and not in a bikini but the toast was actually better, however there was too much butter in the toast which made it a bit sickly.
The wagyu beef tongue was amazing because it was soft and melted in your mouth but the foie gras was almost non existent.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Canal Street wonton crisp:
Potato puree, liver pate and truffle

This was another surprise because I was expecting something that looked like a wonton.
I didn't like this one because the base was a clump of deep fried noodles which were crispy and oily topped with sickly potato mash on top.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Overall, I quite enjoyed the food and I will come back again but there are not many items on the menu though! (To be exact, there were only 10 items on that visit.)

Pause for some Italian food at PAUSA

PAUSA means Pause in Italian so that was exactly what I did.
I paused here for lunch!!!!!

Previously, this used to be Beautifood but sadly it packed up.

Anyway, it is now an Italian joint selling pizzas, foccacias and pastas.

I got the pizza and foccacia and dined here.

The food comes in cute little boxes.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tomato and basil pizza slice:

I really liked the pizza because the base was soft and the cheese was not burnt with lots of tomato puree on it.
It would be great of the basil taste was stronger.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fontina cheese and ham foccacia:

The ham and cheese in the foccacia were wonderful but the ciabatta was a bit hard.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chocolate icecream:

The chocolate was strong but the texture was a little powdery.

Hong Kong McDonald's Batman Burger (Justice league)

I was hesitant to try this new Batman burger (DINER DOUBLE BEEF) because the sauces didn't match but decided to try it anyway.
The burger box has two batman ears at the back.

The burger bun has sesame on top.

The burger consists of black pepper and onion sauce, egg, two beef patties, a slice of cheese and dijon mustard at the bottom.

The dijon mustard was really nice because it actually had a nice mustard kick with a touch of sweetness which went deliciously well with the beef patty and cheese but the extra egg and sweet black pepper sauce ruined it.

As well as the burger, there was the Squeezy cheesy fries and sparkling green apple tea as shown below.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
sparkling green apple tea:
The drink was really nice to begin with because it wasn't too sweet.
It tasted like a mix of cola and apple syrup, but when I was halfway through I stirred it and mixed the syrup at the bottom which made it too sweet.
So next time when I am going to have it, I will ask for it without the syrup.
Overall, it was a nice drink but it shouldn't be called a tea because there was no tea taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Squeezy cheesy Fries:
This was the fun part, you are given a tub of squeezy cheese sauce which you squeeze on to the fries.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Bacon bits:
Then there is a sachet of my favourite dried bacon (reconstituted bacon).

After adding it, the fries looked like this.

Basically the combination of cheese and bacon tasted really nice provided the fries were perfectly done with no rancidness or being overly crispy.
The only complaint was that the cheese and bacon was a little too salty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
In the meantime, I am looking forward to the other new items that will be launched shortly for the Green Lantern and Superman!!!
