Waffles with a purple centre at Summer Ice

Came here for the purple waffles.
They were pretty and would make a great post on instagram to get likes.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Purple waffles:

I am not quite sure what the hype is but I found them too hard and dry but this is the way the locals like their waffles. HARD!

The waffles were definitely sweet but you couldn't really taste the purple potatoes.

I will be back for the sweet potato latte so that I can compare it to the one at Gaba concept.

To be honest I came here just for the Peruvian donuts which are made with sweet potatoes.

PICARONES:
FRIED SWEET POTATO DONUT WITH ORANGE SPICED SYRUP
On first taste, they were weird, they had this acidic bitterness to it which was wrong.

After I spoke to the Chef he tried it and told me that the yeast was not cooked.
Anyway he said he would make another one but the problem was he didn't personally redo the flour mixture hence the kitchen staff used the same batch of flour which had too much yeast hence it came out tasting weird again.
A few comments on openrice seem to mention the weird taste so if they work on the recipe it should taste good!

味道有點怪的,但當與底下的橙汁焦糖醬混合後,味道則很棒

不過我食到有少少微酸味

但就帶點苦澀。(可以是啡色的焦糖漿所致)

SUSPIRO DE LIMENA:
LADY FROM LIMA SIGHS, RICH CARAMEL AND PEDRO XIMENEZ SOFT MERINGUE
 0 讚好

This was really nice because it was really sweet with lots of gooey marshmallow and caramel.
However I couldn't finish it because it got a bit too sweet and sickly.
They could have used a better brand of sweet crackers because the ones they served were not that good.

Addicted to eating snow at Snow Story

At Snow story, they specialize in Macaron icecream sandwiches and snow desserts!!

Had two desserts.

The price was confusing because on the first visit, they did not ask me which size I wanted and gave me the big one but on the second visit I was given the smaller size which is evidently different in price.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Macaron:
I ordered this one because of the tiny macarons.
When it came, there was a scoop of icecream and chocolate syrup which I did not ask for and it was not on the product shot.

The strawberry icecream ruined it because the strawberry taste was extremely artificial.

The snow beneath it was not sweetened because they give you a side of condensed milk to add it it.
The condensed milk was not a good thing to add to it because it does not go on evenly and clumps the snow around it together.
It would be great if they had a shaker filled with sugar.

Cute macarons.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Original:

This was much nicer because it had chewy mochi in it but I can't understand why they give you these weird Chinese shaped spoons which make it difficult to eat with.
The Korean video shown at the desserterie shows a metal spoon, so why do they give you an unergonomic Chinese spoon here??!!

Dolci 2/3's second Christmas

It's Dolci 2/3's second Christmas and they have launched some cakes for the festive season.

-Christmas Amore (Lychee & Rose Mousse Cake) – HKD 420

-Yule Log (Grand Marnier Chocolate Roll) –HKD 238

-Rotolo di Fragole (Strawberry Prosecco Roll) – HKD 238 / HKD 60 per slice
-Abies (Apple Cinnamon Mousse Cake) – HKD 48
-Neve (Mixed Berries Cheesecake) – HKD 48

Tried the Abies and Neve which can be indulged alone.

The Abies was delicious light mousse on the outside with delicious crisp pieces of apples in the middle, while the Neve was a rich yet light cheesecake with tart berries in the middle.

The strawberry roll was light, and the strawberry chiffon cake was soft and airy while the cream was infused with Prosecco with a juicy piece of strawberry in the middle.

This year the Christmas gifts were decorative with Christmas tree ornaments containing dragees (red) and chocolate (Navy blue) and the Christmas tin containing individually packaged bite sized Madeleines.

The odd one that is doing great

http://www.openrice.com/zh/hongkong/review/%E7%81%A3%E4%BB%94-oddies/2424509?tc=MYOR&con=rvw

Had this gelato in late september last year and the queue was endless.

All their dessert creations are wonderful because there are so many different items in it.
I tried ohh tea which had Italian low fat soft gelato served on a bed of earl grey bergamot panna cotta, caramel apple, butter crumbs, organic jasmine tea sorbet, hibiscus tea espuma, strawberry tea caramel popcorn, and a chocolate dipped teabag.
It was just amazing with all these different layers. I loved the tea sorbet and each spoonful would be filled with different delights that will surprise you.

At the very bottom there was creamy panna cotta which blended well with the milky gelato tasting just like tea with milk.
It will be just a matter of time until they open a second branch, hopefully they will have a bigger shop so that people can eat there instead of standing in the streets!

Improved dessert choices at Sweetheart Dessert (Sai Kung)

I rarely eat Chinese desserts because all the choices revolve around mango, red beans and they are 9 times out of 10 too sweet.

On this visit to Sweetheart Dessert, I was surprised to see mangosteen in one of the desserts but I didn't try it because it probably has seeds in it.

Anyway, tried the apple puree which was surprisingly nice but a bit too sweet and the fruits in the dessert such as watermelon didn't go well with the taste.

Dreamy Tofu pudding with caramel

Dream Tofa (Central)
Since my last visit, there are so many different sauces for the tofu pudding such as red beans, chocolate, sesame, strawberry etc.

For Chinese tastebuds, they are probably going to pick red beans or sesame but for Western tastebuds, there are quite a few good choices to choose from including caramel.

The caramel and tofu pudding definitely go together because it is just like caramel milk pudding but the milk has been replaced with soymilk.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tofu pudding with caramel:

It was definitely a good pairing, smooth silky tofu and the sweet caramel sauce which was a bit watery.
I was expecting thick caramel sauce but it turns out to be caramel syrup.

Desserts at Ho Lee Fook

I have always wanted to try this place because it is Chinese food with a Western twist.

Came here twice.

::FIRST VISIT::

On the first visit I had the dessert BUT refused the glass of water because in one of the reviews that person got charged quite a bit for it.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Passion fruit sorbet, lime and coconut marshmallow, pomelo, roasted rice:

This was refreshing especially the passion fruit sorbet which was balanced with the sweetness of the marshmallows that had a gorgeous coconut taste and a hint of lime.
You could visually see fine shreds of lime rind in the marshmallow and the texture of it was as light as egg white.
The roasted rice was crispy and gave a pretty dusting to the marshmallows with a roasted taste.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
::::::::::Second visit::::::::
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Granny smith apple granita, calpis sorbet, mochi, koji jelly:

I had this dessert on the second visit and asked for it without the calpis sorbet because I don't like Calpis.
I liked it because they used Granny Smith apples which are green and tart.

Another surprise was the jelly, it was pink with bits of rice in it and there were pieces of chewy mochi in it.
Compared to the first dessert I found it a bit too sweet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
When the bill I arrived, I got two fortune cookies which I did not get on my first visit.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Fortune cookies are not Chinese but is a novelty snack invented overseas with a fortune slip in the middle when you crack the cracker in half!!
