[i CREMERiA Café] A dinky cake for $160

To be honest, I think quite a lot of things are over priced in Hong Kong.
This dinky little melon cake costed HKD$160 which is around £16!!!!
Ok, it tasted nice but any cake in UK under £2 could taste as nice as this.
It is funny how HKers are willing to pay HKD$600 (approx £60) for a bunch of grapes!!

[Pacific Coffee] 2015 Christmas Cherry Pie

I was mainly captivated by the cherry tart and ended up getting the cake as well.
+++++++++++
Cherry pie:

Got the cherry pie because I love cherries but it seems like a hybrid between a pie and tart.
It’s more like a tart because it has weird a custard layer beneath the cherries which doesn’t make it a pie, while it looks visually like a pie, the pastry was tart pastry which was hard butter crust.
Anyway, the custard ruined the taste and made it too sweet hence it didn’t taste like a pie.

Strawberry vanilla cake:

The chocolate sponge was good but the vanilla mousse was a bit sweet like white chocolate and there was not much strawberry taste.

[Le Fournil] A nice bakery in Kowloon City

A breadwinner means a person who earns money to support the family which is similar to the ricebowl in Chinese which means income.
I like this place because their bread is a winner with a great smell and taste because they use French flour.

I was attracted to this place because of the Forever friends bear and the fact that they had a sweet potato flavoured macaron previously posted on their FB.

They are selling Forever Friends cookies and the British theme is my favourite because of the flavours, as well as cookie sets they have single flavours in store.Clearly, this is a popular bakery in Kowloon City because it was jam packed with people captivated by the pretty cakes.
There is a gelato cabinet with lots of captivating flavours such as Earl Grey, Pistachio, Fig, Balsamic, Basil etc.

I settled for some green tea cakes and some savory buns.
Although the cakes were good, I was impressed with the bakery because they were filled with lots of filling unlike other local brands and tasted superb as well.

Green tea opera:
A deliciously layered cake that is not too sweet flavoured by the green tea chocolate on top.

Mediterranean beef bun:

Again, this was crammed with so much beef and big cubes of beef which has a strong appetizing sundried tomato flavour.

Lemon and almond finger:

These were long strips of crispy puff pastry coated with lemon and almond slices. It tasted like Lemon Puffs with an extremely buttery taste so cookie lovers will like this.

Purple Christmas magic

For the coming Christmas, Maxim's have launched three pretty cakes.

1. X'mas Tree $138
2. La Foret Blanc $128
3. X'mas Reindeer $188

The X'mas tree is a cake with mixed fruits, cream on a chocolate butter cake base coated with crispy chocolate rice which is covered in sweet potato cream, decorated with white, yellow chocolate pearls, chocolate Holly leaf and a golden chocolate star.

The La Foret Blanc is basically a white chocolate cake with Bavarois cream and crispy salted caramel.

Last but not least is the Reindeer which is a chocolate mousse cake with hazelnut, dark chocolate, marshmallows and crispy chocolate.

As well as cakes, they also have a fruit puff assortment.

Tried the sweet potato which was visually good to look at as well as being delicious because I loved the soft chocolate spongecake in the middle which tasted really nice with the mixed fruits and the velvety white cream and silky sweet potato puree on the outside.
When I was collected the cake, they put it in an Angry Bird cake box (errr I don't think the Xmas cake was supposed to go in that box!!!)

Dolci 2/3's second Christmas

It's Dolci 2/3's second Christmas and they have launched some cakes for the festive season.

-Christmas Amore (Lychee & Rose Mousse Cake) – HKD 420

-Yule Log (Grand Marnier Chocolate Roll) –HKD 238

-Rotolo di Fragole (Strawberry Prosecco Roll) – HKD 238 / HKD 60 per slice
-Abies (Apple Cinnamon Mousse Cake) – HKD 48
-Neve (Mixed Berries Cheesecake) – HKD 48

Tried the Abies and Neve which can be indulged alone.

The Abies was delicious light mousse on the outside with delicious crisp pieces of apples in the middle, while the Neve was a rich yet light cheesecake with tart berries in the middle.

The strawberry roll was light, and the strawberry chiffon cake was soft and airy while the cream was infused with Prosecco with a juicy piece of strawberry in the middle.

This year the Christmas gifts were decorative with Christmas tree ornaments containing dragees (red) and chocolate (Navy blue) and the Christmas tin containing individually packaged bite sized Madeleines.

A real mooncake at Twelve cupcakes

Every year, Chinese people celebrate moon festival with moon cakes.

Although it is called a mooncake, it does not actually contain any cake because it is filled with lotus paste and egg yolk.

The mooncakes here are going to go down well with Westerners and people who do not like the traditional mooncakes.

There are four cupcakes in the box, each one is decorated with moon festival related chocolate plaques and comes with Twinnings fruit tea for $190.

The cupcake flavours are:
Cranberry and chocolate
Strawberry and vanilla
Expresso
Earl Grey

The sachets of tea are:
chamomile, honey and vanilla
hibiscus and rosehip
Passionfruit and mango
strawberry and mango

If you order before 31st August, it costs $161.5 and $180.5 before 7th September including Two x 1 free cupcake coupon.

Earl Grey:

As soon as it was sliced, you could smell the earl grey.
It was moist, soft and sweet infused with earl grey tea leaves in the cake.

In the middle, it is orange to mimic the yolk.
I paired this cake with the strawberry and mango tea which had a sweet scent.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Strawberry and vanilla:

The vanilla cake was rich and buttery which was best paired with Rosehip and Hibiscus.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Expresso:

The expresso is great for coffee lovers because it had rich expresso buttercream frosting.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Cranberry and chocolate:

This was my favourite because it had a strong taste of cocao decorated with chocolate buttercream and dried cranberries.
