Dreamy Tofu pudding with caramel

Dream Tofa (Central)
Since my last visit, there are so many different sauces for the tofu pudding such as red beans, chocolate, sesame, strawberry etc.

For Chinese tastebuds, they are probably going to pick red beans or sesame but for Western tastebuds, there are quite a few good choices to choose from including caramel.

The caramel and tofu pudding definitely go together because it is just like caramel milk pudding but the milk has been replaced with soymilk.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tofu pudding with caramel:

It was definitely a good pairing, smooth silky tofu and the sweet caramel sauce which was a bit watery.
I was expecting thick caramel sauce but it turns out to be caramel syrup.

Tofu Korrito

I love their Korrito rolls so came back for more.
On my previous visit, ordered the beef K Roll which I did not like because it was too sweet.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tofu Korrito:

The Tofu roll was just colourful and neatly sliced.
You could see the leafy green lettuce and fresh purple cabbage with crunchy pieces of fried bits and tofu in the middle.
Each mouthful was packed with freshness of the vegetables and the sweetness of the honey sauce complemented by the tofu in the middle.
The only problem was that it was slightly messy to eat because it kept falling apart.

This desserterie is right next to the famous Indonesian satay joint.

They serve panna cottas in various flavours, Serradura pudding and traditional Chinese desserts which are not my cup of tea.

The prices are quite reasonable too.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tofu panna cotta $13:

It was not too sweet which was really good and you could taste the creaminess as well as the tofu taste which was really similar to VitaSoy's plain soy milk.

Lovely crispy tofu @ 川婆婆

Tried this place because no one was dining there.

They have noodles or snacks and for more filling food, there are main dishes.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Typhoon shelter style tofu:

The tofu was perfectly done, the outside was perfectly crisp while the inside was like liquid tofu.
However it lacked taste which should make it suitable for people on a low sodium diet.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Shredded chicken and bean sheets:

I did not like this because it was too syrupy sweet and spicy.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
I think I made the wrong choice because their main dishes looked better.

Tofu day dreaming

This place used to be WTF!XDD which only survived for a short time before closing down.

Anyway, walked past and saw some flowers because it was just opened.
As I did not watch the show, I was not aware it was on this TV show called I AM BOSS which is basically a copy cat of Dragon's Den that was broadcasted ages ago in the UK.

Basically, this place just serves tofu pudding, soy milk, fishballs and shao mai.

They have used the tables to display items just like the shop before.

It was nice that they had quality tissue to use.

The staff seemed like they were daydreaming when I was asking them questions.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tofu pudding with condensed milk:

The tofu was silky and smooth but I couldn't really taste the soybeans.
As I don't normally have this I don't know if $22 for a bowl was reasonable or not, but I love the place because it is clean, air conditioned and in Central.

A wasted visit to Sam's Cook

Went there especially to try the noodles in milky broth.

When I got there, I couldn't quite find the handle to the door so they opened it for me.

The decor was plain and simple.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Drinks:
The macaroni came with drinks, but it was the Chinese range, so just took a few sips because I don't drink Chinese style drinks.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Macaroni with egg white, organic tofu and tofu puffs:

I was really annoyed with this because it was meant to come in pure white pork bone broth but it was not white at all.
Anyway I asked them why it was not white and he asked the kitchen and told me that it was sold out.
I wish they had told me when I ordered because it wasted my time and effort to dine there when I could have gone elsewhere.
However I should be grateful that they served me patiently because I was the last customer.
Apart from the broth, the other elements such as tofu, egg white, sweetcorn were quite nice and healthy.

Silky Tofu upgraded to Tai Chi pudding

Lab Made Liquid Nitrogen Ice Cream Laboratory (Tsim Sha Tsui)
Previously missed the grand opening at TST where they were giving out Silky tofu flavoured icecream.

Luckily they had the Tai Chi pudding which was the Silky tofu pudding base with black sesame sauce.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Tai Chi pudding:

The boss happened to be at the Tai Hang branch that day, and the icecream sizes were at full portion because usually they tend to be slightly under portioned.
On this visit, you could see a perfect spherical scoop of icecream!!
The temperature of the icecream was colder than usual too!!
Anyway, the taste of the icecream was delicious, it tasted exactly like tofu pudding in milky icecream form with a thin liquid of yellow sugar on top and black sesame sauce.
Overall, the sweetness was just right and not too sweet.

Tofu in Lo Shui sauce @ Joy Hing

Joy Hing Roasted Meat (Wan Chai)

Went to Joy Hing for my usual fare of roast meat.
This time decided to get ribs and roast pork, while I was ordering the lady asked if I wanted to try some “delicious tofu” for an extra $5 so I had that too because the portions are not really that big anyway.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★

Ribs:
The ribs were ok, but a bit too dry for my liking
Roast pork:
The roast pork was too lean for my liking today and ever since I tried Cloudview Roast meats at Braemar Hill, I felt that no other roast pork could beat that.
Tofu in sauce:
I felt that the tofu sauce was a bit thick and sweet like Teriyaki sauce.
Rice:
The rice was ok that day, not too soft or hard.

Crispy tofu fish puffs @ Kam Wing Tai

甘永泰魚蛋 (Cheung Chau)

After trying these on my first visit, I was back for more.

They have two branches next to each other and I always go to this one.

I am slighty confused because some reviews say that it is minced prawn tofu puffs but the woman that sells it says that it is minced fish.

The exterior of this looks like smelly tofu with an interesting surface similar to loofah/bamboo pith.

This texture is created by slicing tofu puffs in half, turning it inside out, stuffing it with minced fish paste, sticking them on skewers and frying them.

The exterior is extremely crunchy, and the filling is slightly chewy with lovely fish taste.

It costs $10 per stick with table tissue wrapped around it which keeps my fingers lovely and clean.

Chiu chow style marinated tofu

Lo Pak Restaurant (Wan Chai)

The marinated items at this place are really nice, they have sliced goose breast, intestines, ears, livers etc.

The most popular item is sliced goose breast.

This time I chose tofu and egg which costs $40.

Basically you can choose any two combinations which cost $40 so if you are choosing tofu and egg like I did this time, it is not really worth it because meat is more expensive.

★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Chiu chow style marinated tofu and egg with rice:

Even though I chose the cheapest items, the tofu and egg were really nice.
The egg was hard boiled and the egg white was quite hard but fully flavoured with the marinade.

The tofu had strong soy bean taste and the saltiness of the marinade made it really delicious.
I wish there was more rice though.

Muzi Muzi Muzi Muzi Muzi Muzi Muzi Muzi

This dessert shop has been around for quite a while but the branch locations were inconvenient.

Finally they have a new branch at DOMAIN which is right above the MTR station so I went in late December because they were supposed to open on Christmas Day.
However when I got there, it was not opened yet and they finally opened in mid-January.

I wished I had checked OpenRice before my visit because the English on the menu is slightly weird.
It is best to refer to the product shots for a rough idea.

The menu did not have the ice glutinous dumplings that I was hoping to try (bing juong).
The average dessert costs around 2X which is quite cheap.

I ordered the Yu yuan with matcha smoothie and the Toddy palm seed and mini sago with tofu noodles.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Yu yuan with matcha smoothie:
I honestly thought that this was a drink, but smoothie means ICE-CREAM in Muzi terms!
The matcha icecream, dumplings were in red bean soup which could have been presented slightly better.
However I ordered the wrong dessert because I do not like red bean.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Toddy palm seed and mini sago with tofu noodles:
This was ok, the tofu icecream and tofu noodles had a really strong soya bean taste.
The taste is exactly the same as the soymilk drinks you get at shanghai noodle shops.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
I will come again after checking OpenRice to try other items.
