Delicious loyal food fit for expats and royals @ Loyal Dining

Came here because of the all you can eat dim sum promotion.

http://www.loyaldining.com.hk/

After I tried this place I also dined at Loong Toh Yuen which also did the All you can eat dim sum as well but at a higher price.

Compared to Loong Toh Yuen, it is more expensive at LTY but there are more choices there which are traditional dim sum items that you would find in dim sum restaurants but at a better quality.

I liked the concept of Loyal Dining and their website is pretty good too as they have the menu online.
I was surprised with their Christmas dinner menu which had christmas pudding and their deluxe item foie gras and BBQ pork from their takeaway menu.
The interior reminded me of St Louis Steak house and Tai Ping Koon where the furnishings are quite pre-war style.
They offer Western food which is properly Western!
The waitors there wear the nostalgic bow ties and burgandy suits.

In general the food comes quite fast after ordering but the dim sum quality is slightly inconsistent for some items.
The good thing about the ordering here is that for some items such as dumplings and buns you can order the number of pieces you want and not by portion.

Shrimp and crab roe dumpling:
Tasted how it should the pork was not that fatty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Spinach dumpling:
This was green and filled with spinach, the dumpling skin was the chewy type.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Steamed dumpling with peanuts and minced pork:
This was the same as the spinach dumpling but filled with pork and peanuts and the shape was slightly different.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Panfried pork dumpling:
Compared to other restaurants the taste of this was not bad.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Panfried pepper and Chinese chives dumpling:
The filling inside this was quite peppery with lots of chives.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Steamed sponge cake:
The sponge cake was nice and soft.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Minced beef balls on beancurd sheets:
I do not usually like these but these were not oily which was good and there was a strong taste of dried fruit peel
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Prawn dumplings:
These were my favourite and the size was slightly smaller than the average dumpling and the skin was taut and al dente.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Vegetarian dumpling with bamboo piths:
This dumpling was very moist and filled with bamboo piths and shiitake mushrooms.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Scallop and shrimp dumping:
This was as good as the prawn dumpling except the skin was softer.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Steamed vegetable dumpling:
This was nice because the dumpling skin was different and not made from glutinous rice.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Prawn Spring rolls:
Slighty oily
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Deep fried Bean curd rolls:
Slightly oily
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
White radish cake:
Tasted OK
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
BBQ pork bun:
OK, and you can order theses in singles.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Steamed glutinous rice wrapped in lotus leaf:
Tasted OK
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Vegetarian rice rolls:
Too oily
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Beef rice rolls:
The rice roll was really nice because it was al-dente.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
BBQ pork rice rolls:
This was the best because it contained real fresh pieces of BBQ pork and when you break the roll in two the filling does not fall out.
The soy sauce was served separate so you could put the desired amount.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Spare ribs in black bean sauce:
This was quite nice.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
chicken feet in black bean sauce:
The chicken feet were hard on the first order but were softer on the second batch.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Stir fried noodles:
The noodles were nice and not too salty.
★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★☆★
Custard puffs:
These were my favourite but the quality varies.
