Swank Thai food at Holiday Inn

Moon Thai (Sheung Wan)
As well as drinks and lunches, they do great Thai food for the evenings.

Located on the second floor of the Holiday Inn hotel, they have lovely dining outside as well as nice tables indoors which are spaced out nicely.

Strawberry and orange drink:

To start off with, I was choosing a non-alchoholic drink and there were so any choices to choose from.
In the end I chose strawberry and orange which was a lovely concoction of blended strawberry and oranges with a lovely tangy twist.

Raw shrimp:

I have never ordered this before so it was my first time trying it.
It was raw prawns on fresh mint leaves, raw bittermelon, minced green chilis and raw garlic.
They advised us to eat the prawns with the mint, bittermelon and the rest of the items.
The prawns were quite spicy and the mint and bittermelon eased it with minty freshness and crunch from the bittermelon that was not bitter.

Clams and pineapple soup:

The pineapple and clam soup was an interesting combination. I was expecting a clear soup but it was milky because milk was added.
There were lots of basil leaves in the soup and it tasted really sweet with delicious pieces of pineapples.
It was a really nice soup to start off with.

Stir fried fish bladder with shrimp:

The stir fried fish bladder was a little different to what I expecting because the ones I have tried before have not been coated in egg.
This dish was really fulfilling and the air bladders were really soft and tasted similar to Pad Thai because of the egg.

Steamed fish in plum juice:

The steamed fish was really nice because it was heated with with a candle beneath keeping it hot.
I loved the plum juice because it was really sour and when the glass noodles soaked it up, the noodles were so nice.
The fish was really delicate and tasted great in the plum sauce.

Prawns and glass vermicelli pot:

This was the best glass vermicelli pot I have had because the noodles were not oily, each strand was uniformly golden in colour and had a lovely sweet oyster sauce and soy sauce taste in it.
The prawns were huge and meaty.

Chicken Tandoori:

The chicken Tandoori comes in two's or four's and they give you the chicken leg which s nice and tender.
It came with cooling mint sauce which was a perfect sauce for the tasty chicken.

Stir fried baby cabbage:

I loved these baby cabbages which can be cooked in garlic or fermented beans at Moon Thai.
They were crisp and delicate with a gentle grassy taste.

Dessert platter:

A nice platter of Thai dessert, from the left there was layered pudding, coconut pudding, pumpkin pudding and coconut sago pudding.
My favourites were the coconut pudding because it was light and made with coconut water and my other favourite was the pumpkin pudding.
