Thanks to the Pizza Hut in Hong Kong for treating their front end hearing impaired employees, "Dialogue in the Dark", the Hong Kong Association of the Deaf and the media to watch this inspiring award winning film " The Hammer ".
Pizza Hut Hong Kong Management Limited Chief Executive Officer Henry Yip said: " Pizza Hut has always cared for the disadvantaged, and active in social responsibility, we provide equal employment opportunities at Pizza Hut, about 5% of full-time employees are hearing impaired, we believe in their ability to work, and show our concern for equal treatment. Under the special event today the film "The Hammer", is especially for our hearing impaired employees to provide a memorable and enjoyable night, to thank them for their efforts in the company and the same time to promote equal opportunities and care for the disadvantaged. "
Previously I had experience what it would be like being blind at an event held by Dialague in the Dark, and this time watching the film about deaf and dumb people I was able to understand their difficulties.
Being English, I understood the film perfectly because they spoke in English which led me to ponder whether sign language was universal.
After asking some people, I realized sign language was different for different languages.
The film was really good because it was based on a true story showing different stages of Matt Hamil's life from being diagnosed deaf and dumb as a baby.
I loved the scenes from school and university.
