Baker’s Boy bakes his way from Malay with Mex buns

Baker’s Boy opened in 2003, Kuala Lumpur selling Mexican buns.
This is their first branch in Hong Kong!
I wonder why they chose Tseung Kwan O for their first branch in HK?!?!
As well as Hong Kong, they have bakeries in Taiwan, China, Singapore, Korea and Thailand.

I have never come across Mexican buns in UK, Europe or even Mexico so it must be an Asian thing.

Anyway, the appearance is similar to the crispy milk bun, but the top crust is much thinner and lighter.

Their buns attracted me because they are small and available in eleven flavours.
I did not buy on my first visit because the Pandan flavour was out of stock.
The eleven flavours are: vanilla, peanut, orange, chocolate, strawberry, coconut, pandan, durian, banana, mango and coffee.
The buns cost $10 for 3, so I chose pandan, banana and coffee.
The flavouring was really strong that you could smell it from a distance.
Baker's Boy reminded me of Jimcus Donuts because at Jimcus they also have lots of flavours but flavoured powders were used instead of the essenses at BB.

Pandan flavour
This was my favourite, It was not green, but the Pandan flavour was strong.

Coffee flavour
This was also another strong flavour. I only got this because it was recommended on the Baker's Boy website.

Banana flavour
This was the worst, I think I will not choose fruit flavours because the taste was exactly like Banana chewing gum!
It was so fake and smelt of solvents!

It would be fun if it these buns had real fruit in the middle or flavoured cream according to the flavour of the bun.
