Trek into the New Territories for Taro snowflake ice @ 綿綿冰甜品屋

I rarely go to the New Territories, but I came all the way just to try their Taro flakey ice, after researching on openrice, this is the only place that does Taro flavour.

However, when it was served, the texture just turned out to be 100% ice-cream, the taste was purely frozen Taiwanese Taro milk tea, made with that milk powder.

I believe the suppliers do not have Taro flavour, so they must have made their own concoction of it, and processed it with the flake shaving machine. Probably the mixture was too creamy, hence it doesnt have that icey texture.

For the toppings, there were somes that were not offered in other dessert houses, such as the black sugar jelly (shaped like chopped spaghetti), and the green tea jelly cubes usually found in the Taiwanese drinks. Awkwardly enough, the topping were placed beneath the shaved ice rather than on top!

Apart from dessert, also ordered fried smiley potatoes and taiwanese fried chicken with your choice seasoning.

The smiley potatoes are not a a regular menu item in alot of places, so I ordered that, they were golden yellow, but still too overfried for my liking, as I like it crunchy outside with a soft inside. But I think this is the way Hong Kong people like to fry their stuff.

For the fried chicken pieces, it is basically fried chunks of chicken thigh in a crunchy flour coating, and my choice of seasoning was seaweed. There are various other seasonings such as curry, mexican chili, spring onion and so on.
